my friend's mom tried it and said it worked. but she did it a long time ago.
I haven't personally, but a friend of mine did. He was trying to join the Army Reserves but didn't make the weight requirement, so he went on NutriSystem for 3 months to drop some weight. He lost about 20lbs, but complained about the cost and taste of the food, and if he hadn't gone to basic training he said he would've given it up anyway.
Yeah it is pricey thats why I want to be sure if its worth it. I f I decied to buy it
I did it for a few months actually. There are definite pros and cons..
It's definitely convenient.. everything is already pre-portioned and prepackaged so there isn't any actual preparation to worry about.. and you're more likely to stick to it that way. Some of the snacks and entrees are actually pretty decent tasting.. and some really are NOT.
However, it is (as I'm sure you noticed) WAY expensive.. and you don't get any fresh ingredients. Everything is like a TV dinner.. (none of which need to be refrigerated.. which I think seems somehow unnatural..)
I would say try it if you feel like you're lacking willpower to be motivated enough to cook for yourself. Otherwise, I'd say cook for yourself with fresh ingredients.
If you do decide to go with it and you want some suggestions of which meals and snacks to order, let me know.. I can definitely be of assistance there. =)

I wish I knew, to be honest with you. I wasn't weighing myself at that point. =/
I will say my clothes started to get looser, however.

I tried it about a year and a half ago. I lost about 15 pounds in a month in a half. Sad to say, I put the weight back on over the course of the past year. It was a great program in the sense that you were able to have pre portioned food that you didn't have to think about preparing. A full meal could be made in about ten minutes. It was great for both my husband and I b/c we are busy people, both working two jobs. But unfortunately, last year got a bit crazy and we grew bored with the meals. We like to go out and we had a friend living with us, so we ate out or brought in a lot. The food wasn't bad, but I am not a picky eater. I didn't have a problem with too much, but there were things that I liked better than others. It is easy and convenient. The portions are great. You will lose weight if you follow the plan. I did recommend it to a friend recently. It is a good plan for a weight loss kick start, if you are able to transition to "real life" when you are done. It is also very easy to follow, so if you are crazy busy, then that can be nice. The plan now has an on line program that will track calories and exercise too, so if you eat something outside of the plan, then you can input that to get accurate calories. I find that this site does that also. My husband and I still go out, but we make healthier choices, and I am still on track to lose about the same amount of weight in the same amount of time as when I was on Nutrisystem and I get to have "real food". That is just my opinion.

Sounds like it's not worth it. losing 20 lbs in that time without that stuff is also possible(I lost 21 lbs within the same time WITHOUT that stuff but WITH counting cals, allthough it's slowing down a bit now), by just eating normally...

I think you could stick around here and let us cheer you on for free. ;)
Seriously... if were just a matter of money, we'd all get plastic surgery. But we want to be healthy for a lifetime, change bad habits and be able to say that WE did it... not Nutrisystem.
You CAN do this!! Spend your money on some healthy fresh fruit and veggies and start a retirement account instead. ;)

I did Nutrisystem this time last year and lost 21 lbs. over a 2 1/2 month period so it does work if you stick to it. Most of their food leaves a lot to be desired though. I choked it down to stay with the program, but there were a couple of times that I thought the food was so bad I wound up throwing it away. When I decided to take a break from it, I was so starved for regular food that I just couldn't go back to it. Over the last year I have gained back 19 of the 21 lbs. I lost. I considered going back to Nutrisystem because it does work; but decided against it because I just don't like the food and it is expensive. However, I did learn a lot about portions and using the glycemic index. I'm not very far along on my new diet but I am using the knowledge I gained from Nutrisystem, and substituting foods that are similar in calorie and fat counts to the Nutrisystem food. For example, in the evening I am using "Lean Cuisine" meals that I think are very close to the nutrition counts of Nutrisystem meals; they taste very good, and are just as easy. As for support and tools, I think the calorie-count.com website is MUCH better... (Nutrisystem does acknowledge the importance of calories, so calories do count). I would only recommend Nutrisystem for 30 days (or less) to learn their basic plan of portion control and using the glycemic index, then get off of it and do your own plan substituting with foods you like and can stick with. In fact, with a little research, I think you can get the true benefits of Nutrisystem without the expense, and cut out Nutrisytem all together. :)
Can anyone tell me the best foods to order, taste wise? I am seriously
considering trying nutrisytem and I want to order the best tasting
foods Thank!
Just another thought, one of my colleagues tried one of these meal weight loss programs too, she did lose a bit till she was on the program. Once she stopped, she has put on more than what she had lost.
There is only one major drawback i see with these meal programs. getting back to real life and real food once you are done is not easy!
I personally vouch for preparing fresh healthy meals that you can control the portions of.

I didn't do NutriSystem, but my sister did. She said most of the food was pretty nasty... she lasted a little over a month, and then gave up. She did lose weight, (about 15 pounds I think) I had been considering it, but based on her experience, I didn't do it.
I've found having Lean Cuisines around the house is as effective - and if you can catch a sale - MUCH cheaper. Because of the sodium, I don't eat them every day... but for those "don't have time to cook" days... they're perfect.
I've actually gotten accustomed to the Lean Cuisine portion size, so now when I eat "real" food, I am better able to control myself.
Good luck!
