Has Anyone Tried the Wii Fit?
I everyone! I live in a place that has HORRIBLE allergies because it sits in a valley, and these rarely go away. I also have a but of Sports Induced Asthma so you can forget running in the cold outside. The place we used to live had a gym, but we just move and now I dont have one, and cant really afford the monthly dues to join one.
I only have about 5 lbs to loose, and what got me jump started several years ago were workout videos, now Im thinking about the Wii Fit
Does anyone have it? What do you think??
Thanks so much!
I just bought the Wii Fit a couple of days ago.
Right now, I'm in the process of unlocking games and activities, but since I'm probably a bit heavier than you are, the beginner setting for the activities are more than enough to get me sweating and wishing I had never been born (particularly anything yoga and strength training related--I lack balance and upper body strength).
It definitely will be helping me out, as my husband just returned from Iraq (yesterday), and I will probably be eating a bit more food than normal (already went out to eat last night and had Cold Stone Creamery for dessert), so this should definitely help me with my calorie burn.
The balance games and aerobic activities are also particularly fun, and they're also very enjoyable. =) The Wii Fit will probably be very great for you, as it is very encouraging, and fun.
I work part time for Gamestop and good luck getting a WiFit if you try. They are backstocked for months. You have to try calling every morning except weekends and if they have one, GO GET IT! its a good game, but remember it is a game. It lets you set up a profile and allows you to do the various activities on the balance board which then recognizes your movements and rates them against what it's supposed to look like. This is good because it tells you if you're doing the activities correctly or incorrectly. Since Yoga is one of the activities its important to have the correct posture in order to not hurt yourself and the balance board helps you do that. But, if you also manage to track down a WII ( also still difficult to get) don't forget that there are other games like WII Ski, and wii play that are very active in having you do the motions associated with these sports. But as always you need to be careful because just like all activities associated with motions you can hurt yourself. It sounds silly but it's true. There is a website called www.whattheyplay.com that gives reviews on all types of video games. If you get past the wii fit you may want to check there and look up what the positives and negatives are to various wii games to give yourself some variety. Just like all excersizes you have to switch it up to make them effective, and the the Wii is just like that. I hope I havent rambled too much, and good luck!
I've had mine about a month now and im still using it most days!! it doesnt replace my workouts but its been great for my knee injry, the yoga has made my posture improve, and iv unlocked the press up challenge now, which is mega difficult for me and i really love having that automated triner saying 'nice work' at me for getting pressups lol (my upper body is soooo weak lol)
anywho, yes its great. its not so much quality workout but definitely quantity, it'll get your heart rate up a bit and stop you from sitting on your ass for the whole evening!! hehe i calcuate my calories with aerobic low activity... about 300 cals if you do the jogging/boxing etc
Hi there - I have had one for about 2 months. I think it is fun and it doesn't really feel like exercise to me. I haven't been able to use it as much as I would like since the kids want to take it over anytime I bring it out.
As far as finding one, I found a website call www.wiitracker.com/wiifit. It will tell you if there is one available at a variety of on-line retailers.
Good luck and have fun. I figure anything that gets me moving is a good thing!
I've had mine for about a week and I've used it every single day for about 35 minutes - I love it.
If you're looking for one, keep an eye on the Sunday Sale papers for Target. Target ONLY has them in for the weeks when they're in the Flyer (meaning, if they get some in a week before they're going to be in the flyer, they hold them until the Flyer goes out).
It was in the Flyer this past week, I got to Target by 8:30 on Sunday morning and got my WiiFit, no problem!
Got mine about a month ago for my birthday. I'M SO PATHETICALLY ADDICTED... I've lost about 145 lbs in all, and my body... well, looks like it lost 145 lbs. I needed something to help me tighten up. I was doing 1200 crunches a day for about a year, and that did help my stomach a bit... But this thing... well, the first week I couldn't walk. I was so sore. It was awesome. I couldn't believe how much more of a workout it was than the crunches. I think I was doing them waaaay too fast... Anyway, I've used mine every day, wake up at 6:30 (uuuuuugh) to get on it, go for about 20 minutes (no balance games, mostly aerobics and strength training - save the other stuff for fun with the kids). Then when I get home from work, I go for a run and some hula on the thing and then sit down to have a glass of wine and catch my breath (hahaha). I've not lost any weight at all... and I thought I would. But I've gone down a pant size, there is a MUSCLE GROWING ON MY ARM... and my stomach finally lost that lump that was hanging around my bellybutton. My boyfriend told me the other day that he actually sees a muscle where my butt should be (I have no butt - when the weight went, it packed up and left me too). Anyway, as long as you push yourself when you use it (don't just do the activities to get them done - do them hard to work your body), you'll be happy you got one.
Oh - by the way, wasn't hard to get one at all. I know some ppl have had a hard time getting them, but we asked around and found out when the deliveries were being made, and walked in that day and got one. Don't give up. Well worth having.
Hi,
We bought our Wii Fit about two months ago and positively love it. It is great fun and can be tough. The more beginner activities you do and repeat the more advanced activities will open up for you. I still use a stationary bike and free weights to get a good workout but the Wii is a great addition. Have fun!
