has anyone tried the "zig zag" method where you "trick" your metabolism by changing up your calories everyday or w/e? has it worked?

I just started this 5 days ago and I've lost 4 pounds.  Not sure if it's the zig zagging or what, but I'm going to keep at it.

ohh how exciting! good for youu! how many calories are you consuming each day!? fill me in, i need all the help i can get!

I'm doing around 1,000-1,200 on one day and then 1,800-2,000 calories on the opposite days.  I would LOVE it if the weight continues to come off.

I don't zig-zag persay, but vary quite a bit within a set range of calories.  I eat 1600-2000 calories a day (avg 1800) based on how hungry I am, how active, if I'm going out with friends, etc. It works well for giving myself some flexibility and hopefully keeps my metabolism from adjusting too quickly

I don't count anymore and i've been losing consistently whereas i plateaud for months when i'd count, i''ve assumed that i'm naturally zig zagging so that's why i'm not getting stuck at a plateau.

Not to burst your bubble, bughead girl, but if you've just started this 5 days ago, then the odds are that your big loss is water weight that everyone loses in the beginning.  Check back in next week and let us know if the loss continues or not. Tongue out

I have zig-zagged before and it worked really well. However, I didn't zig-zag on a daily basis. I ate a consistent amount for 7-10 days, and on the 7th or 10th day, I ate whatever I wanted for dinner and dessert. I ended up losing it all that way. I'm back on here after gaining back some of those and I'm planning on doing it again.

I appreciate the comment, however I've been on my diet for 7 months now, so any water weight that I might have lost is gone by now.  I had been on a plateau for 3 weeks before I started the zig zagging thing.  Sometimes our bodies plateau for no reason and it just takes time for us to adjust to something new before our bodies are willing to let go of the weight.

I'm not saying that I'll be able to lose that quickly consistently.  I'm just saying that this far into a diet, it's not likely it's just water weight.

thats good. what are your stats? height/weight, etc. and do you exersize? i would LOVE it if i could use this method and lose weight consistantly. except i'd probabley do a little less then 1800 on my every other days.
