NOPE.....I gave up on any fad diet things...Been there --done that! OVER...close those doors forever!
This site and community is the best way for me to control what I eat, how much I excerize, get over humps because no matter what faddish sort of diet you are on or thinking of going on......you do loose the stamina........ I have committed to those of us who are here for the LONG TERM!
Tempting.....but NO THANKS! :)

there are lots of posts in here (try "search" for south beach) about all those other diet "plans" and most of them are pretty negative.
the whole point of THIS site is that you make your own choices, and CONTROL your OWN food and exercise. this is NOT a "diet" it is a way of healthy living. keep reminding yourself of that. when we all reach our goals for weight loss, we are still going to eat the same way, just adding 500 cals worth of more of the same.
it's the balance of protein, carbs and fats, with all the other essential vitamins and minerals that is important. and with the multi billion dollar food industry pushing us to eat high carb fatty foods, what we all we need most is the moral support of a group of people like the ones on this website, to help us keep making healthy choices.
so my advice---don't spend a nickle on that "diet." everything you need is here and it's FREE!!!

I tried that diet.. It was a little to rich for my life style. I say get a reasonable eating plan and stick with it. You don't need a book to tell you how to eat right. Well i do need the calorie counter book i got a month back. Now that what you need when you are on a diet. You don't need that high priced eating plan to lose weight.
You go elin.... My mom has done the south beach and others ect... NONE work for the long-term. Before I would spend even one cent on any diet plan I would give this site a go, because you know what... if you do not have the willpower to do it yourself. Their is not enough money in this world for you to pay someone to motivate you enough to live a better life. Give this site 30 days, stick with it, and find out for yourself:) I have and have lost 14 lbs.
Hi there, I actually seen the book at my daughters house and I wondered why she would have even bought it? She is definately not even fat. Any way I don't understand why you would need any thing else but this site to help you loose weight? I've been using this site since 1/20/06 and I've lost 13.5 lbs with 20 lbs more to go. I actually got started because of a contest at work. "Who will be the biggest loser"? And with everyone working on it, it was motovation. Well I won the contest and I believe this site has made that happen.. I eat what I want, but I watch what the program is telling me I'm putting in my body. It makes you think twice about having all that junk food. It makes you feel better about you self and as long as I excerise the weight keeps coming off. And I for one have followed a lot of fad diets with always putting it back on.. This time, no way.. I will use this for the rest of my life.. Walking at a very fast pase has always helped me lose the weight. And I do walk fast for about 30 minutes during my lunch break. But I've also been eating much better now, more fruits, veg, and fish.. Stick with this program and it will work!
I haven't tried the diet but their frozen products make great lunches. They help me while I'm at work since I'm literaly surrounded by fast food all around me- they help me to not have to think about what I'm going to make for lunch that day- I just grab one out of the freezer and go-along with a piece of fruit and a no calorie drink- The Cashew chicken and the beef/broccoli so far are my favs. I vary sometimes with the Lean Cuisine's.
Just a thought:)

This may sound funny but i was just gonna post about the south beach diet..... I have been doing it for a week and i really believe that just counting calories is better. The first phase of this diet is really strict and you have to stay on it for 2 weeks and i really havent seen any diffrence as far as weight lose from when i was just counting calories and i didn't feel deprived. I only tried it because my inlaws swear by it and the fact that it said that you would lose belly fat first which isn't true. So in short I'm ready to give up and go back to just counting calories.

I tried it a couple of years ago -- not 'their' food but just the menus in the book. I have to say it worked for me -- much to my wife's consternation. It didn't work for her and her high cholesterol was a concern for her.
The problem is that you have to be strict. I also have known someone who says the 'Polish' diet (high fats) works for them.
For all I know, an all-carbs diet could also work. I think the body simply gets confused when it gets all one kind of food and it signals trouble in the system by dumping fat temporarily.
You can make a diet on Atkins and lose weight but it isn't a lifestyle change so the weight packs back on when you go off the diet.
