I am 43 and have dieted so many times I can't count. Every time I go on a crash diet that no one could stay on. My first diet was when I was 11 years old. The diet consisted of one can soup a day. I lost 10 lbs and then went off of it (as you can imagine) and gained it back and more. Since then I have yo yo ed my way up to this weight. I am NOT doing that again. My plan this time is to eat right and loose it slowly and keep it off once and for all. I am using weight watchers points program which basicly counts calories and fat. I am also going to use this site and all it has to offer. I am looking for diet buddies to give and get encouragement from each other. This is going to be a long road and I really want to do it this time.

My goal is also to lose 100lbs. I bought a gym membership in November and plan on using it daily. I also check in on this site daily as the support and knowledge really help. It's gonna be a long journey, but I know that I can do it and you can too!

Weight Watchers is a really good program and works very well with this site. There are others in WW, too... hopefully you can all help each other!

Welcome!
My goal was to lose 100 lbs. I'm 56 lbs. in :D

I've never tried a crash diet, but I have done the Calorie-Count.com diet, and it works for me! :)
*waves hello*

Me.  working on losing 143 lbs.

Not like all the diets before...no. This time I'm changing my habits one at a time, to healthy habits, so that I'll never have to diet again. I'll just have healthy habits and a healthy body.

I can control my food like nobody's business, but I'm only just getting going with exercise and I hope it will be the key for me.

welcome!
Thanks for replying to my note. It's good to have diet buddies. Good work on loosing 56 lbs hkellik !!! Keep up the good work, Hopfully, I will be telling someone that "I am 56 lbs in" in the future. Hopefuly we all will. We can do it! Have a great day, Carrie
Hi,

I need to lose 104lb so am quite daunted by the prospect of having to lose nearly half my current body weight. Only been a member of site since yesterday but so far seems very helpful and not at all like the "fad" diets you see advertised at high prices everywhere you look. The thing that got me started on this site was the helpful nutritional info that gives you grades so you can see easily if your a goody two shoes or facing the wall in the corner with a dunce hat on. LOL. I have been trying to diet on and off for years but I had a major scare this year when my doctor told me I was borderline diabetic, and I had to go for loads of blood tests ( not good when your terrified of syringes to the point of feinting). So here I am with backside thoroughly kicked by me to get started and loose those lbs. Would be happy to be a diet buddy with anyone cos I know I need that extra bit of motivation when having a bad day and the brain says COMFORT FOOD - PHONE FOR PIZZA!!! The holiday season has been spent installing  home workout equipment, but due the excess weight carried about for so long - my knees and ankles are shot so am having difficulty getting much use out of them at present. Maybe need to be sensible and loose a few lbs before attempting anything silly like breaking into a sweat. Hoping we can all keep each other motivated and upbeat about our successes and failures and maintain a sense of humour on the days when it all seems to be too much to ask.

I justed joined and started my diet on January 1st.  Weighed 350, I weighed in last friday and was at 347.  I need to actually weigh in tonight because our town is doing a community weight loss program so I'll find out if my food choices are working.  It's 10 weeks long so I am hoping to start shedding the pounds.  And I need to shed A LOT!!!!

At a minimum, I want to lose 120lbs over the next 2 years, but could probably even lose 160 and still be considered "overweight".

I want to weigh in right around 230 lbs.  I have a very large frame so I think 230 would be just fine...

Best of luck to the rest of you!!!

I too am joining today.  I've started back at ww after leaving Oct 06 after losing 50 lbs.  But put 18 of that back on during the holidays.  It could have been worse though.  I am one of those freaks who loves to exercise.  I walk 2 miles a day with my dog Mon-Fri.  On the weekends, I walk 3 miles by myself.  I would really like to loose 100 lbs just to be back at my weight in high school.  Even then I was overweight but I'd feel good at 145-150.  I know it will take me a while.  It took me over a year to take the 50 lbs off that I did before.  But I am in this for the long haul.  I have figured out that what I really needed was the support and the accountability of what I'm eating which I get from ww and I know I'll get from this site as well.  So here's to us who have made the right decision to make the our lives better.  Good luck to us all.
Yup I also am working at lossing 100, 10 left.  You are going to have to do more then diet.  There is no way of getting around it you have to work out in some way to lose it.  So far I've walked.

Hi..

I just signed up at this site, but have been working on losing about 120 pounds.  I started last February, and have lost 50 so far.

Like you, I am also 43, and am finding that it's not as easy as it used to be.  My weight tends to do some wild fluctuating.  It gets discouraging, but I've been keeping at it.

I've basically been doing it on my own, making sure that I don't skip breakfast (I read somewhere that 75% of overweight people are breakfast-skippers..or something like that) and then eating smaller portions and snacks throughout the day, but keeping the total calorie count to around 1200 calories a day.  I was also walking 3 miles a day, but then I had a couch dropped on my toe, quite effectively breaking it.  That combined with overly indulging over the holidays led me to regain about 10 pounds.

Anyway, I found a link to this site and would also like to find some "friends" for online support and encouragement.
I am looking to lose 216 lbs.  I have already lost 116 and currently weigh 247, so have about another 100 to go.    I have been at a stand still for about 6 months, so I am trying this to get more motivation.  Also joined a contest at my local gym.  Good luck everybody :)
Welcome to all of the new C-Cers!  I have 108 lbs. to lose and am 55 lbs. in so far.  It really has taken a change in eating habits AND consistent exercise to get the pounds off.  As far as the exercise, I set a goal of going to the gym three days a week for an hour each time.  It has been very easy to meet that goal each week.  Good luck to all, feel free to add me to your friends list so we can converse through the journal.
I want to lose about 93 more pounds but the doctor would probably want me to lose 123- once I lose the 93 I will be down to 200- my goal is to get to a size 16...the best advice I can give as to exercise and motivation is to get an IPOD :)-  I got one last year for my b-day and still have room for 70 more songs- it's great because you can load it with your own music taste and it really helps when you are trying to walk for exercise- today it even helped me to kind of "jog/dance". I have my dogs also which are very motivating. My older dog already knows the routine when I come home from dropping my daughter off at school- if I head upstairs- she gets really excited because she knows that I'm going to be changing clothes and putting my walking shoes on. I can't dissapoint her.  Plus- her behavior is ooo so much better with the exercise!
Hello everyone, I am forty years old and trying to lose at least 180lbs. This is my first time actually trying to loose wieght. I was active and fair shape. I was a bounty hunter and a bailbondsman for 5 yrs. Once I stop, I started gaining wieght like it was no tomorrow.
I'm 42 and my intial goal is 160 but i will probably just make 154 -150 my goal.  I am 66 lbs in after a year and I have 34 lbs to go for a 100 lb loss to get to a wieght of 154.
Just found out about this site and a new member.  100 is the goal for me at the moment, but I know that I could stand to lose more than that.  Being 21 and a college student who works full time, I find it really difficult to get free time to exercize, let alone eat right.  I'm hoping to get into the habit of eating right and get down to a weight that will allow me to do more things!

Just started this diet and only one pound to show for it.  99 more to go...shouldn't be that hard...right?
Long term goal is to have lost 140.  Started at 360 and am down to 346.  Just have to stay concentrated on my health and my kids to keep me going.
