Anyone Trying/Tried a C210K?
I used to be big into running a couple years back, even did a half marathon in 2006. I've been on my butt now for a year or so and I just signed up for a 10k in April to get me back on my feet.
Anyone else out there in CC land doing a couch to 10k? Anyone done it before? Looking for some motivation, a little commiseration too. :)

Congrats for taking the step! I'm sure you'll be fine.
You sound tough! lol.
I'm not a big fan of running (too many wobbly bits
) but I love walking, so I'll attemp to do 10 000 steps a day!!!
Keep me posted about your exercising! lol.
TC. xxx Gud Luck.
I am trying to get to a 10K too, I have never really been a runner did some in HS and that was pretty much the last time, but my SIL got me motivated and I need to lose weight so I figured why not.
I started witht the couch to 5K I did not follow it exactly just more as a helpful tool. I went and gotthe Nike+ tool love that It keeps my runs online and I can compete in challenges (they have ones for beginers so it is fun) http://nikeplus.nike.com/nikeplus/?l=runners,runs,70801086
Started at the end of Sept 08 first time out I could not even run 1/2 a lap around the track. next time I ran 1 lap, and I jept up the walk run scenerio. I was able to run my first 5K Nov 17, 08.
I am now able to run 3 to 4 miles consistantly and last week I was able to run my first 5 mile run ever (felt amazing) and I am a slow runner about 11 min mile but still I was thrilled. But for some reason this week I am struggling to even get to 3 miles though I was going to pass out. 2 steps forward one step back. I need. I need some push to get to that 6 mile marker.
GOOD LUCK!! and If I can do this you can too!!!
Hang in there txmom04. When you are adding distance, speed is not important. You are building endurance, and you do that by going further and running longer. One day you'll look back at six miles and see that as a short training run :-)
Keep up the great work!!
Hey,
I'm not doing a 10k, but I am doing a Half Marathon in late March. I'm currently following a marathon training schedule (but just the first 9 weeks.) This week is 3 miles, 4 miles, 3 miles, 7 miles.
I did my first 5 miler a few weeks ago and, like txmom04 said, it felt amazing. I wish I could do it all the time but I know if I increase my weekly mileage by more than 10%/week, then I am highly susceptible to an overuse injury (this goes for everyone.)
hey tx mom i friended ya on nike+ just to have a buddy on there, cuz its a little lonely at the moment!! keep in touch and let me know how your running is going!! :)

I had a similar training regimen when I ran my half for Team in Training. Good luck on your race! Half the distance, double the heart! :)
I'm training for a triathlon in June and I love Nike+! I almost never ran before I got it (I've been a swimmer my whole life and could never run to save my life!) Now I run all the time. It's my main exercise in the winter (I should be swimming on my masters team but I hate getting out of the water in winter and going outside to have my hair freeze!)
I've never friend requested anybody on Nike+. How does it work?
Anyway, I'm now training for the run (5k) but I want to get up to a 10k and even longer. I would love to do Escape from Alcatraz one day (San Francisco) and that run is much longer.
All I know is that it's totally worth it! You can't swim everywhere, and you can't take your bike with you everywhere, but you can run anywhere!
hey i do the 5k every year and im 15 running it great

Wes – thanks I am struggling this week completely with running, have no motivation at all , I think I may take this week off and regroup this weekend.
Mds – YEAH, that is awesome, I could not believe how far I had run kept having to look at my ipod, when I saw my results I did a little dance out on the track lol people probably thought I was nuts lol
Ktomkie – Awe cool I will add you as soon as nike gets done upgrading their system (or whatever it is they are doing) – way to go on the 4K!
Oreo – Nike + was a big motivator for me I am a visual person I loved seeing my runs add up, and being able to join different challenges is fun and appeals to my competitive streak lol
noooooo!!! my nike sportband died tonight!! im reading now that its been pulled from the market for all the defects and won't be rereleased until august! boo.....
well, hows everyones runs going? i did 1k tonight at high speed high incline (dublin is getting snow at the moment so im running indoors)
ktomkie - urgh on the sport band, I don't have that one IU have the chip and sensor that plugs into my nano ipod. Good job on your incline run! I sometime slike to runon the tred mill at the gym I love to people watch and there is never a shortage of people there.
know what you mean about people watching at the gym. plus our treadmills are lined up overlooking the pool, so theres lots to watch and keep you entertained. for treadmill running, its not all that bad!!
