Anyone Trying to Give Up Pepsi or Coke?
I am a Pepsi addict. I used to drink tons each day, now I am down to 1-2 cans per day which is really, really good for me. I have given it up twice before and it really helped me lose the weight....but I am back on it. UGH! Is anyone else in this battle? I would love to have a little group of people trying to quit the soda pop toghether. Anybody with me?
Oh....and I could really use some yummy low-calorie dessert ideas....sugar free pudding with a sliced banana is one idea....any others under 200 calories?
frozen yogurt. :)
there are a couple good, low-cal recipes on this site for diet coke cake. it's a low cal desert, and you'll still get the taste of soda that you love. :)
or you could just drink diet soda? that's what i do. i'm a coke zero addict.
I could drink diet, but it is not my favorite taste....may as well either drink regular if I am going for taste or drink H20 if I am not. Does coke zero taste like regular coke?
yes!
coke zero is AMAZING.
Hmmmmm.....well, I know Pepsi has some sort of equivalent, but I have never tried it. Maybe I will give it a try on a free day, but for now I think I will just try to avoid it all together! :O)
Well, I went to being a Diet Pepsi addict, and now I'm down to a can a day. It's slow progress, but it's progress, I guess.
You can make a Diet Coke or Pepsi Float.... Just Use Diet Pepsi or Diet Coke/Coke Zero & Breyers Slow Churned or Sugar Free Ice Cream (It ranges from 90-140 calories; unless u get the pre packaged 100 calorie cups)
So yeah its a low cal dessert that ranges from 90-140 calories depending on the ice cream :)
I haven't had a soft-drink in 5 years. Beleive me...you won't miss it. Try to get off soda (diet and nondiet) ALL TOGETHER! None of it is good for you. It's just a bunch of artifical garbage.
Try naturally flavored water or tea. Your body will love you forever.
i used to love soda but decided to give it up for a new years resolution like two years ago and haven't really had it since. you just have to make up your mind to do it, and it gets much easier after the first few weeks. i find water and skim milk can get pretty boring so i drink the crystal light packets, tea, diet hot chocolate, and diet snapples to get something with taste.
it really depends on your personality type. some can drink the occasional coke and be fine, but then you get those people with addictive personalities (like me); who have a can, and then can't stop and sooner than you know it you spend your whole week's allowance in 2 days on coke zero. :|
havent had a soda in 5 months... and I used to drink 4-8 a day my whole life...
I dont drink anything but water and sometimes 4 oz or so of Gatorade Rain after a workout for some electrolytes
Do not consume any form of pop/soda!! They all contain HFCS, which is what makes you gain weight/fat.
I gave up pop 3-4 years ago and never looked back. Occasionally, I'll have pop to mix with alcohol but I barely drink now so that's not relevant. All the liquids you really need are water and milk (and Gatorade for workouts/sports).
My husband and I quit 2 weeks ago cold turkey. I used to drink 3-4 a day and he works for Coca-Cola, so he had much more than that because they are available or free all day long.
I know exactly where you are coming from!
I quit (almost) 2 weeks ago. I stopped buying it to have around the house. With me counting calories, I look at it and say "I'd rather have food." Now, if I'm really craving it, I'll have it when we go out to dinner for date night. I ask for a water as well. It takes me all dinner to drink my cup of Pepsi and I enjoy every sip.
I had caffeine headaches when I quit. Tea gave me a little caffeine and calmed the headaches down.
I feel great now and I don't want to go back to the 2-8 cans a day I had before.
Same with rcflyr, I stopped drinking soda about a month ago! It has done wonders for me! When I crave soda I just drink a big glass of water, or if I really want the sweet I will just have some juice. The Juice is still a little high in sugar but I don't have it often and it definatly helps that craving. If you are wanting the carbonation try drinking a mineral water, like talking rain or something!
im a water addict=]flavored water is the best route or just plain H2O but i heard good things about diet coke zero max or whatever that is called
I used to be a diet coke addict but I gave it up about 2-3 months ago shortly after I started back with CC and am so glad I did. Once I stopped drinking diet coke (I'd have 2-3 cans a day sometimes 5-6) I noticed I didn't crave snacks as much. I've now switched to water / tea (unsweatened). I will have the occasional soda now if we are on the road and stop for fast food but for the most part when I go out I order water. It has really helped with my weight loss.
I am glad to know I am not alone! Today is day two without the beloved Pepsi!
So far, so good - well I have to start somewhere, right???
Augette says it has helped with weight loss, what about the rest of you???? Has it helped you shed the pounds?
I always drink Diet so for me it wasn't so much the calories as the caffeine. So just two weeks ago I gave up all colas, tea and coffee (even decaf!). I am hoping for some whiter teeth since my teeth are too sensitive to professionally whiten. The headaches were super painful for the first few days but now I feel like a new woman. I am not an addict trying desperately to get my hands on some soda or coffee like I used to. Also I drink much more water (I always drank a lot but now it's easy) and I sleep better. Finally, once in a while I give myself a half can of Diet Coke or something and it's such a special treat. I appreciate it so much more now!
