Anyone Trying to Give Up Pepsi or Coke?

Quote  |  Reply
I am a Pepsi addict.  I used to drink tons each day, now I am down to 1-2 cans per day which is really, really good for me.  I have given it up twice before and it really helped me lose the weight....but I am back on it.  UGH!  Is anyone else in this battle?  I would love to have a little group of people trying to quit the soda pop toghether.  Anybody with me?

A lot of people drink soda because they don't like the taste of water, but I used to drink a lot of soda b/c it didn't occur to me to drink water instead. I was thirsty.  Soda actually makes you more thirsty.

If you are trying to decrease your soda intake for weight loss, the best substitute is drinking more water. I like thin slices of cucumber with a twist of lime and it really makes it tastier.

But if you still really love soda, consider switching from cola to clear sodas.  The caramel based sodas eventually do start to stack up calories that are two few to print on the label on each can.  I really like right now Sierra Mist Cranberry Splash.

I love Sierra Mist Cranberry Splash too, but it has the same amount of calories as Pepsi, so if I drink soday, it will be my favorite Pepsi.
This is day 3 of no soda for me! :O)

Good job!  It only gets easier after day 3! Smile

I am gald to hear that  because today is a BIG temptation.  I usually get a Pepsi when out running errands and I have a few stores to hit this afternoon, so I really want one.  I will press on and just wait it out!

I used to drink 2 quarts of diet coke a day.

I switched to brewed iced tea sweetened with sweet n low.

And then after about 3 months, I switched to water.

The switch from diet coke to iced tea was easy.

The switch from iced tea to water took about a week for the withdrawal to be over.

I strongly prefer water now though.  And feel glad that I'm not on that other stuff anymore.

Carry on! Good show!

Well, I still am drinking it about 3 times a week, but oh well!  It is less than before, so it is a start.  Even on the days I have the Pepsi, I continue to make sure I get in my 3 - 3.5 liters of water a day.
I useto be a big Pepsi dirnker,
then went down to Diet ,
now I am all about Water and Green tea.

Stick in there.. :)

I was having 2 or 3 cans of Pepsi a day. One grocery trip, I only bought one 12pk and made that last the two weeks; the next time I didn't get any. If I'm really craving a soda I have one of DH's cokes.

And, I haven't missed it. I've had 3 cokes in two weeks. I'm drinking sports drinks instead right now as we have them on hand, and LOTS of water. I also have coffee every morning which seems to help with the withdrawal (or lack of it!).

I can't drink the diet sodas (can't have the artificial sugars in them), and I'd rather have home cooked food than soda!

After having my first daughter I drank at least 5 Pepsis a day. But then I got serious about losing the baby weight so I completely stopped drinking it. I was drinking about 750 calories a day! That's just crazy, so yeah, it definitely helps with losing weight :)

I am new to the group but am so glad i am not alone! I have been drinking Pepsi since I was who knows how young. I drink nothing else, i mean nothing. I will start my day with a can of pepsi (i dont do coffee), then when I leave my house I get a 44 oz 1/2 diet, 1/2 reg pepsi. I run my errands, get ready for work. On my way to work I get yet another 44oz soda. After work if I go straight home its a can or 2 before bed. Its out of control! When i was pregnant with my daughter Pepsi made me sick, so I choked down water (good thing). I actually was losing weight just from that. So I know i can do it, and as i am sitting here drinking my pepsi am going to try to bypass the 44oz today (both of them). You have inspired me. Thanks.
