Anyone Up for a Jillian Michaels' "30 Day Shred" Challenge?
I've got the dvd, have done level 1 some before, just not consistantly. If anyone is interested in starting the 30 Day Shred, join in. I think Monday would be a great day to start. I'll post what else I'm doing apart from the 30 Day Shred as well. I'll go ahead and post my current stats. I'll add measurements this weekend. And if anyone wants to join, please do so. If not, I'll keep this posted so people can see the results.
CW - 140 lbs
GW - 136 lbs (by March 20th)
22 Years Old, 5'6"
As far as goals from this DVD, just want to see what it will do as far as strength and toning. Like I said, I plan to keep to my workouts at the YMCA while I'm doing this so I can blast the last bit of fat I have.
9/30, Level 1. I want to try do a second workout today since I didn't manage to get one in yesterday. I may try the 2nd level later on this afternoon.
Hope everyone is hanging in there!
Ugh! Not done it for 4 days! So ashamed, but to be fair, i have been working hard physically with my job :)
7/30 done! Level 2! plus Jillians Cardio Max, killer! realize that if a take a couple days off, I feel the burn better ... don't know what I weigh yet but hoping to fit into skinny jeans with no belly hanging over! no prob. with legs only stomach ... keeping it moving! great job on the weight loss Tater!!!!
I hope that once I get to 30/30 it will really make a difference, I dreamt about working out to Jillian last night and was like, I HAVE to do it today NO MATTER WHAT!

10/30 done! Level 2 even! Wow, love the different workout in Level 2! Had to really push to get through it!
11/30 done! Level 2.
Soraya, that's funny about you dreaming about Jillian
.
You're lucky that you don't have a problem with the legs.. that's where my problem is.. legs and butt. For a mama of 5 children I don't think my stomach is too bad... I mean it's not wonderful but it's not totally awful either.
How's everyone else doing.. it's gotten quiet in here?
Yes it has gotten quiet, I am going to try to do my 8/30 today but getting over a sore throat and haven't worked out...
Colorado - are you losing weight on the work out program?? What are your eating habits??? I read your post that you log it as Circuit Training does that really work for you?
Edit: 8/30 Done! Level 3... but um, it's only 168 cals burn? that's not sig. enough...
12/30 done! Level 2.
Hope you feel better soraya! Well, between CC and the work out program, yes I'm losing weight. It's not all I do though, I also do Walk Away the Pounds a couple times a week (the 4 mile walk). So far my weekly deficit is equal to the weight I lose, so figure I must be logging it correctly?
As for eating habits - I eat about 1337 cals a day (remember, I'm 5'1") but I zig zag them. So for instance I have one day that is 1600 cals, and others that are 1400, 1300, etc. I try keep it as healthy as possible. I am also trying to increase my daily protein since I'm a "fast oxidizer" according to Jillian's book.
Also, take note of how long the workout actually is. I timed the first two and they are actually 27 minutes start to finish, not 20 as advertised. I know there is some time in there for warm up/cool down, but since the warm ups are pretty intense themselves... every little bit counts! I start warming up from the beginning part where Jillian is just talking about the program, I hate that you can't skip past that!
haha! me too! because I can get easily distracted and it sooo long! she goes on and on... I can't afford the program online and don't know what kind of oxidizer I am, how do you know you are a fast one? and need protein? it may a question that can't be answered but that's all good... thank you and I do feel so much better the antibiotics helped me in one day! I'm gonna try my hardest to stay focused, good luck and I feel happy to know someone is doing it with me... I'm not alone.
:) xo... Soraya
Glad to hear you're feeling better :)
I can't afford the online program either, but her oxidizer quiz is online here:
http://www.cbn.com/LivingTheLife/Store/bookSa mples/WinningbyLosing_excerpt.aspx
At the end of the quiz is where they discuss what kind of oxidizer you are and what balance of foods you should eat.
I got her book from the library, but there is no way I can go along with her eating program, not with a family to feed at the same time. I'm not going overboard trying to up my proteins, just paying more attention to what I eat so that when there is a choice between protein, fat or carbs, I choose the protein.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend :)
13/30 done! Level 2. Almost halfway there ![]()
14/30 done! Level 2. How is everybody else doing?
hey Colorado! I'm here I was sick last week and took a break going to attempt to finish it today... I did level 3, I've done it a few times, but I find that level 2 gets me sore the next day. So I am going to do a Level 2 today plus the cardio max... on TOM so wonder how long I can last :) it looks like it's just you and me girl! Oh and thank you sooo much for the Quiz, I still don't know what I am I was off by 1point in ea. category???? so mabe I'm a balanced oxidizer??? who knows, I'm focusing on eating as clean as possible until my weight budges again... hopefully by the end of March I hope to be atleast 7pounds lighter :) After TOM I'm going to my 'official' weigh in.
xo...Soraya
17/30 Level 2 :)
Anybody else lovin the walking push-ups? Hello strong core!!
Soraya - you're welcome! That quiz wasn't 100% clear to me either. I had more B's than anything else... but the way I read the results seem to have put me in as a fast oxidizer. Hey, I'll give it a shot and see what happens.
I know I won't have finished the program by the March 20th date as per OP, but I think there will still be enough changes in my body by then to be noteworthy
. I don't know if I'll post my results on the 20th, or wait 'til I'm done with all 30 days and then post...
I did 30Ds today, plus a 4 mile walk (WATP) and then later in the evening decided to do a 15 min ab workout and a 15 min arms workout.
mlilly, nice to see you here :) I enjoy those walking push-ups, but have to admit they are much easier for me to do than regular push ups. Is that the same for everyone?
Keep up the good work ladies!
After reading so much about this, I just bought the 30 day shred DVD. Can't wait to try it! I'll post again next week, hopefully with good results.

Hi all,
I'm happy I found this thread. I just got the 30 Day Shred and did my first work out yesterday - it's SO good! I can feel that I've worked something today. I know everybody has already started but you all can be my inspiration to keep getting through this challenging workout.
Is anybody seeing results in weight or inches yet?
I started doing this about a week ago, I did level 1 for 4 days in a row then moved on to level 2 which I've done 3 times now, and I'm already seeing amazing results! My jeans fit better in the thigh area today and my arms, while they've been sore pretty much every day, are starting to look more toned. I'm going to do this every day for the next week and then I have a 10 day vacation. I can't wait to see what another week does!
Welcome p_trump, slimfit29 & hauteandi!
p_trump - Looking forward to reading about your progress, I'm sure you'll be happy with it!
slimfit29 - Yes, I'm seeing results in both weight and inches. I'll post results on March 20th, although I won't have finished all 30 days by then.
hauteandi - Wow, I could only move on to the next workout after I'd done the first one 10 times, LOL! Glad you're seeing results already :)
I did Level 1 today for the second time. I do plan on trying to keep up with the 10 days. But whoa! Yesterday I was super tired and today my muscles were a little sore but not bad. Today, the workout was easier to get through but my muscles now hurt veeery much! I hope they feel better tomorrow. :P
15/30 done! Level 2.
5 more workouts and then I'll go to Level 3. If I only take one break day every week I'll be done by March 31st. If I do two break days I'll be done by April 2nd.
gabita - don't forget to give yourself at least one rest day a week so your muscles can recover :) It *does* get easier, but some days I find pretty easy and other days it's just HARD to get through the workout!

So you can log your weight -- which allows you to do the following:
- Plot your weight curve
- Analyze the trend of your weight (see under Recent in the figure above)
- Determine the projected target date (see under Overall in the figure above)
