Anyone from upstate NY?

Hi, I' fairly new here and was just cerious if I am the only one from Upstate NY? I live near Utica, right off the threw-way between Albany and Syracuse. Anyone even know where that is?? LOL It just seems that I am the only one in NY state that has the internet lol, I can never find anyone on any of the sites I go on that live even in the same state, so I figured I would see if I was alone here too. :)  

I'm outside of Albany.  There are others from Upstate NY as well on here; this thread pops up every now and then.

i went to school at Geneseo.  i loved being upstate.  i'm back on long island.  where did you move from?

born and raised with in 50 miles of here so basically I have lived here my whole life.

However, I live in Fairfax, VA now.

It's funny. I'm used to hearing that Buffalo, NY was upstate, but I guess it maybe wasn't?

Buffalo Rocks! Born here, live here, wanna stay here. Sure, we get our share of the white stuff (but not as much as Syracuse this year), and our sports teams seem to never quite make it to the top, but we have world class art and symphony, theater and great people!

Funny, as we travel out of state, most folks seem to think New York only means "the city of"...like the rest of the state doesn't exist. Sometimes we say we're from Niagara Falls...folks have heard of it but have no idea where it is. Well, guess what, it's practically in our backyard!

I've always thought of Upstate NY being the Adirondack area :)

No but every labor day we stay in a cabin at Trout Lake up near Bolton Landing! And when I was dating my wife who lived in Montreal, I would drive straight up through Syracuse and Watertown into Canada to visit her

I live in Buffalo although I wasn't born here.  I'm not a huge fan, but I think that is because I'm used to a different type of city.  It doesn't help that I don't like snow.

It does have an amazing theater/art/music scene though.

Rockland County here.  Not so "upstate" but not the city either, right?

Aww. I was born in MA, and live in Atlanta, but I moved here two years ago after 12 years living in Ithaca.  Went to college there and then stayed another several years.  I miss upstate NY! Yeah, I always got so mad at people who think "New York" means a city and nothing else! For that reason I often tell people that I used to live "in New York," and if they asked further, I would say something like, "yeah, it's an entire state, dontcha know!"

I've been to Utica several times rtd! One of my closest friends in college (Ithaca College) was from Utica. Also, I know bodyscience is from Elmira. Upstate represent!

Hey RTD!  I grew up outside of Utica (a teeny town called West Winfield about 20 - 30 minutes south of Utica), and now I'm in Syracuse, so there's at least another CNY-er here. 

In Binghamton, NY here!  hi neighbor!

Spent part of the weekend in Corning, NY where the Glass Factory is. Also spent part of the afternoon in Watkins Glenn, but got out of there before the end of the NASCAR race and the traffic jams! We love the FingerLakes area!

Hi Slappy!!! I'm in Binghamton too!! And Elmira is practically right next to Binghamton.

I usually live in NYC but I go to SUNY Binghamton. :P Good to know that there are peeps from Binghamton (:

oh, yes!!! I thought I was the only one!! I work in Niagara Falls, live in Brockport, born in South Buffalo, grew up in Springville, and have lived in:

Williamson, Somers, Brewster, Hornell, Dansville, Perry, Batavia, Clarence, Holland Patent, Herkimer and  Elma!!

Thanks to my job, I have seen MUCH of NEW YORK STATE!

I do know where Utica is..............ran the Boilermaker for the 5th year in a row!!!

I'm in Bingo too... wishing the weather was nicer and not so blahhhhhhh!  Oh well, just wait 5 mins - it'll get worse

any one in the Albany area? I am in East Greenbush.

Not from Albany, but travel there several times a year for my job.  Weather here has been fantastic, but you know that winter is right around the corner as my mother-in-law was showing the new winter boots that she just purchased.
