Anyone want to join a challenge for JM 30day shred?
Anyone who wants to join with me to challange yourself to do the 30day shred? I also want some friends who can give me some motivation and challenge to keep up with it.
Reason: Moved from Weight Loss to Games & Challenges forum
I am on day 3 of the 30 day shred and I have noticed a difference already. Prior to starting the shred, I was in a workout rut. Level 1 is challenging and I consider myself to be in pretty good shape. Jillian is easy to follow, the moves are basic, yet challenging, and I sweat a ton in just the 20 minutes the workout runs. The combination of strength, cardio, and abs are definitely the best way to get shredded fast. I am switching between the shred and Blast Fat, Boost Metabolism (both workouts are on youtube). On shred days, I do a 20 minute Mari Winsor pilates dvd and the next, just the BFBM. I would love to stay motivated with other CC members.
I am 5 7 and 150 lbs. I am 32 YO, married with a 6 yr old kid. I love outdoor activities and exercise. I also love food! I get all gung ho with working out, then hit a slump and make excuses to work out. I love cookies, ice cream and chocolate. I have been struggling to lose 10 stubborn pounds over the last few years. Best I have done is get to 145 then I don't know what happens to me but I eat and eat and eat like my body is starving and am right back at 150. It is frustrating. Just today I went running about 1 1/2 miles. This is a great site that I have discovered today. I will start my food log and exercise log tomorrow. Goal is to be bikini pretty for our vacation on aug 7 and also our 7 year wedding anniversary!
c'Mon Willpower. It's all in my head right?! I CAN DO IT!
I would like to help cheer you on as I cheer myself on. I also have an indoor gym where I will be doing strength training.
jazzy, I used to be in the EXACT same rut- I'd lose 7lbs (enough to feel pretty good) and then "treat" myself. To the 7lbs back :/
My advice is this- when you get to 145, try taking a little deficit vacation. Eat your maintenance cals (I looooove maintenance cals!!) Then after a few weeks, get back on that deficit horse!
As for the OP, I don't have the 30 day Shred (I once mentioned to my hub about wanting to get it, and he pointed out all of my many other exercise DVD's that I don't use![]()
Sooo...would you guys mind if I did an exercise DVD along with you? (even though it won't be that one) I really could use a daily kick to the butt to keep going! -you can say no, I'd understand :)
Of course you can! Challenge starts from tomorrow. Good luck everyone!
I am on day 5 of the 30 day shred and I am definately feeling it..I have decided to do it every second day and on the days I don't I will do cardio at the gym ( I usually run or do the elliptical). I measured before beginning the shred and am looking forward to seeing a difference..i am 5'5' 160 and 26 years old ( gonna be 27 in 8 days!).. I would love to stay motivated with you.

just to let you know I don't have the DVD either but I stream it from youtube on my computer..hope this helps!
lori, I wish I could get it through youtube, but I have dial-up! Yes, it still exists! (I live in the sticks)
skinny, thanks! I'm excited to get started, hope I stay with it. I have a tendency to be really excited at the start only to fizzle out.

I'm the same kind. I give up too soon. Hope I'll stay inline this time.
I would like in on this. I finished p90X about a month ago and have recently been doing a combination of the JM workouts on ONDEMAD. She is really challenging me to push my body in ways that I had not in the past.
GOOD LUCK!!!
I want to join in too! My husband burned it to a dvd for me a while back....I was into it for a while - then got lazy and stopped.
I want to do it a whole month and see what happens...my plan is to do it every morning before work....except I know how I am and I will try to talk myself out of it before getting out of bed. OK - so no more excuses right? 30 days straight......
Should we post stats?

this is what I plan on doing (since I don't have 30 day shred)
KUDOS for doing the whole thing!!! I've tried it before but only got 40 or so days into it before I lost motivation and gave up :(
ameame- no more excuses is right! too often I'll start good and then for some reason I "can't do it today", and then can't the next day and then I'm as good as done :/
I'll do some measuring this evening for my stats (haven't measured ANYTHING since mid-Feb!)
We'll post stat. then we know whether we have lost or not.
I weigh 132lbs
waist - 28.7 inches
Hip - 40.1 inches
Keep it up guyz!!!
GO GO GO!!!
Has anyone noticed their arms getting bulky doing the shred? I'm concerned about this...as I don't like that look. OK, I'm only going on day 4 of the shred, so maybe I should wait...Any thoughts?
OK - so day 1 down!
My starting weight is 219.8 - yikes......
Day 1 down. I weighed my self as soon as I finished the workout. I couldn't believe my eyes, my scaled moved slightly into 50s. I think it was after almost 6 years. I was thinking my scale can't move towards that side. I got that weight back when I ate breakfast, but it was pleasent surprise and really made me motivated.
Day 6 down!!! I don't have a scale at home so I'm gonna weight myself at the gym tomorrow..I might just have to buy one this weekend to track the results more closer. Good luck to everyone!
I did my workout this morning and I feel good. Since I dont have the DVD I am going to alternate between level one and two for 30 days. IF it gets too easy (haha...I'm kidding) then that might serve as motivation to buy the actual dvd. I havent weighed myself b/c I am going to try to go off of how my clothes fit (plus I just came back from vacay and dont want to get depressed).
La_woman~I havent noticed any bulkiness in my arms and I have been doing a strict weight lifting regimen for the last three months or so. It is very possible that you are just retaining water right now. Stick with it and continue to monitor the size of your arms. Also what size weights are you using?
Ameame~Hang in there...my starting weight was 264.5!
Skinnycherry~just a little advice for future weigh-ins...I heard that you shouldnt weigh yourself right after a hard workout (and I dont know about you but JM gives me a run for my $) because your muscles tend to hold on to water thus adding to the scales!!!
Good luck everyone.
Yvarner...I'm using 3 lb weights. It's challenging, but I also know I am capable of lifting 5. I just don't want to get too muscular. I hear 3 lb is good to start. Hmmm, retaining water in my muscles? I've never heard of that. I will start measuring too as sometimes eyeballing the size isn't the most accurate method. Thanks!
I completed Day 4 of the shred and it's getting easier. JM is right, one's endurance and stamina increases with more practice. More motivation to stick with it. Plus I've noticed my legs look more toned. I guess I can deal with the toned look of my arms if I know they're getting stronger, not BIG looking. :) Incorporating 20 minutes of pilates after the shred feels good after that workout. Really relaxes and works different muscles in a variety of ways. I also am doing an hour walk at night. Keep up the hard work everyone!!!
I'm doing it but it's a LOt of hard work. but i always fele great afterwards. I just compelted day 4 of workout 2. Level 1 really hruts your elgs while Level 2 has a lot of cardio. Does anyone know if i will gain weight in muscle? i don't want to giana ny weight, even in muscle.
