Does anyone want to measure their progress in Inches?

Quote  |  Reply

I'd like to start a group where we measure out progress in inches lost.

Here are some suggested measurement spots:

bicep

bust

high waist (above navel, below ribs)

waist right at the navel

hips/butt (around the widest part)

thighs

calf

Also may want to include Height and weight:

If anyone wants to add or suggest other places feel free.

A suggested date or time frame I'd suggest would be every 2 weeks or  on the 1st and fifteenth of the month.  Let me know if anyone thinks this is something they'd be interested in.

Thought I'd post a measurement update for accountability purposes. I am only 3/4 of the way through Stage 1 but, just checking in. :)

Here they wereas of May 1 2009 (Before NROLFW)

Height: 5'6

Weight:  153.8

Neck: 12.5

Bust: 37

Bicep: 10.5

High waist: 31

Waist: 36.5

Butt/hips: 39

Thigh: 21.2

Calf: 14.5

And Here's what they are as of June 8th.

Height: 5'6

Weight:  153.4

Neck: 13 (going up? or maybe my imagination)

Bust: 37

Bicep: 10.5

High waist: 31

Waist: 35 (down 1.5! I don't feel so bad about the slow weight loss now!)

Butt/hips: 38 (-1)

Thigh: 20.5

Calf: 14.5

NOW August 4 2009: Here are my measurements:
Weight:  154 (have lost NOTHING since I measured on June 8)

Neck: 13.2 (yup definitely getting bigger, what's with that?)
Bicep: 11.8 - up 1.3 inches (is that normal?)
High Waist: 31.5 (up .5, I'm getting depressed here people!)
Bust: 37
Waist: 36 WTF?
Butt/Hips: 40 UP 2 INCHES
Thigh: 21.5
Calf: 14.5

All right. As of 2 days ago I am out with a back injury.
When that heals I am starting Stage 3 over again and I will do stage 4.
If these measurements go up again, I am quitting NROLFW.
I haven't lost weight, but I haven't gained either. Maybe it'll be time
to move on to something else....
You ladies have any feedback for me?

hmmmmm......the only advice that i can give you (that i have been told) is that you lose weight in the kitchen....how are your eating habits?

My eating habits are certainly not perfect, but they are ok. I am usually at a deficit (300 -500) except on weekends.

Not so much worried about losing weight as I am about gaining measurements! I guess that can be caused by the kitchen too??? Cry

I'm not really sure, hoping that someone can jump in here and help out! (Maha? Karozel? Yoga?)

I never took measurements so I cant relate. All I know is that things fluctuate based on a million factors....

You look great and healthy! Do you have a specific goal?

Igloogal If you are trying to lose weight while on NROLFW you may find it a bit counter productive but your inches are still going down. Also you could increase your deficit(by adding more cardio) to help with the weight loss.

I was having issues with not losing weight while I was on the plan so I decided to wait until I get down to my goal and then start the plan so that a 2 lb fluctuation wouldn't freak me out. Unfortunately I have been having a bigger struggle with my eating habits lately so my weight still isn't off. I'm at 147.4 and would like to get down to 140 before starting NROLFW again.

With training for this 10K I should be able to shed the pounds in 2 months max, even if I have a slip up or two. At that point I will be starting NROLFW again and sticking with it. I really liked seeing the progress I was making as far as the amount of weight I could lift etc, I was just a lil too distracted by the scale. But I shall return.

Amayou! Hi!!! :) We missed you :)

I'm still struggling through... in Stage 5 now. (just started it last week)

Did you ever get that bikini top? I wanna see a pic!

Yeah I'm still waiting for that picture too!

My weight has basically stayed the same since I've begun, and really, I'm ok with that right now. I was losing inches, but after measuring today, I have gained inches everywhere except my bust! Now the fact that my weight is the same but I'm gaining inches concerns me greatly. (I'm not bloated either)

Hello Ladies,

I'm embarassed to say that I refuse to put that bikini on until I lose this weight, Right now the top is too small :-( which once i lose the weight i'm sure it will fit perfectly. I'll keep you all posted.

I don't really trust my measurement skills.  I measure once a month and it often seems like things have gotten bigger or smaller almost randonly.

For example, my hips are almost always the same measurements give or take 1/2 an inch.  And my weight is basically the same within 5 pounds -- but that's because of my eating.  But I *know* my butt is shaped differently (higher, rounder, firmer) and I like the way my pants fit a lot more than I used to.

So, I'm just not gonna worry about it. In fact, I've just about decided not to measure, but just go by how my clothes fit and feel, and the scale.  I'm hoping to get the scale moving in the right direction again and I'm not going to measure until I hit a new mark on the scale because otherwise it's just too confusing for me.

That is food for thought.

I love you for bringing that up. My butt looks better, higher, firmer. Ok. I wont measure again until I see the scale move again.

 This.

Personally I think that women on this program with higher, firmer, tighter butts are hotter than those at goal weight who don't lift.

Lift on ladies.

Ok so I have been seriously slacking in taking my measurements, eating healthy, and exercising. This Monday I plan to start a new. This week has just been really busy and my eating habits have been slacking as well as my exercising. The guy at the gym always gives me this "I haven't seen you in a month" look which has been correct these past few visits. It's time for me to kick myself in the butt and get it together.

I'll start with posting my measurements (and weight) This Monday Aug 17 and every 2 weeks thereafter. Sep 1st etc. ANd when I reach my goal weigh for the umpteenth time I will start to NROLFW program from the begining.

Hi Amayou-

Good going on getting back to it. I havent been able to exercise (structured) for that past 2 weeks because it triggers anxiety for me (im super on edge due to my first flight on friday) so ill be starting back up with workout B in stage 5 on Wednesday next week.

I found though that its not really the exercise (although i spend 1.5 hrs a week playing baseball, and also walk a couple times and maybe a light bikeride recently) that its more what I eat that takes the weight off.

I would start up NROLFW as soon as possible and just make sure you are eating well. The weight will go. I had no noticable change from Jan -July then all of a sudden I had dropped 7 lbs.... crazy. Right now im focusing most on food intake and it seems to be working.

Im going to be taking Kickboxing twice a week and playing dodgeball come Sept so I will only be doing 1 lifting session per week, but i think all that will amount to a good amount of exercise and ill keep trying to eat well (not drinking anymore really either) and I think ill be okay...

I know what you're saying but I can barely stick with something 2 weeks without seeing the kind of progress I need to see, like dropping 2 pounds. So I HAVE to eat well AND exercise because just doing one of those things won't move the scale for me. And if I don't see the scale move I'm gonna feel like my efforts were for nothing and I won't be committed to sticking with it. It's crazy I know but that how my mind works lol.
