anyone wanting to go from 140 down to 120?
I am in serious need of motivational people! I really want this so badly I can taste it.
I weighed in at 141 this morning but I really don't know how accurate that is. My ultimate goal is at least 125. Won't take any less than that but I am pleased with any kind of positive change.
I would love to do Tuesday weigh in's. I am in a workout program with a girl at work and that's when we do ours.
I'm not too big on the calorie counting thing. Too time consuming for someone with NO time. I do watch closely what i am eating now and have cut my portions. I work out everyday even if it's just a walk for an hour.
Weekends are rough for me so any additional help with that would be great.
Come Join Me! I promise to keep up with you!!!! lol
snowfence: You lost 75 pounds????? That is awesome. What is your diet secrets? How did you do it and how lond did it take you?
thanks for asking! LOL i started on 9/4 with hubby. he had come home really scared after his doctor appointment. it was just a regular check up, which we've both gone to this doc every 3 months for years, and this doc has always told both of us that we needed to lose weight, AND how simple it is....
he always said that all you need to do is change your lifestyle! we always came home laughing!!! yeah, right... change your lifestyle...
anyway, this time was different. the doc upped hubby's meds for his diabetes & told him that he's gonna have major problems if he doesn't lose weight NOW! that really scared hubby, so i said, "let's start right now. let's go for a walk." :D hubby has lost 60 pounds!
i just try to eat lots of fruits & veges, drink lots of water, & for exercise, i mainly just walk. BUT i try to burn more than i eat. that's about it! it really IS simple. :D it's been almost 8 months & i haven't hit a plateau either!
i still go bererk at buffets, parties & even just going out to eat, but it all averages out. AND i still eat my junk food, but in moderation.
How do you all manage to handle the weekends? This is my first week back on CC and I really don't want to get off track and find weekends are the hardest for me.
does anyone here ever eat maintenance on weekends or take a day off or have ways of not falling off track?
i take lots of days off. it works different for different people though, i think. maybe you should try maintenance & just see what happens, OR exercise more to make up for eating more. that always works! :D
Do you believe that you should workout everyday. Since I started cc i have worked out or walked everyday and I really did change my diet. Do you think losing maybe 7-8 pounds since april 21st is a good average.
I really wish I would have started measuring because I think inches matter more than pounds.
i think it's good to be more active, but it is good to take a day or 2 off from exercising now & then. i feel like it's fooling the body! :D that way it doesn't ever learn what to expect. that's why i eat alot now & then too.
a plateau comes from the body learning how much you are eating every day & how much you're burning every day. it learns to only burn that many calories, but if you change the numbers alot, it won't ever learn. :D try to stay a step ahead... LOL or 2!!!
7 - 8 pounds since 4/21?! isn't that way too much? or do you mean from then 'til the end of may? for our weights, it should be averaging a pound & 1/2 a week. sometimes you lose more & i wouldn't worry about that, because some weeks will be better than others. by the end of may, i'm hoping to be down to 138 or less. my 1st goal is 141 by 5/15.
i'm really glad i didn't measure any sooner. LOL i was moderately obese & i don't want to ever know what them inches were! now though, i enjoy measuring! i love to see them numbers go down! AND sometimes you don't lose any weight, but you still get thinner. :D
Snowfence:
I have lost approximately 7-8 pounds since 4/21. I am eating more than I did before just better choices. I just got moving. I was pretty lazy before but couldn't stand looking at myself in the mirror. I am much happier now and full of energy. You really think that is way too much?
i would say that is way too much, but as long as you are eating more AND making better choices, i'd say it's fine. especially if you just started. like you said, you are much happier now & full of energy, so it can't be bad!
i lost 22 pounds my 1st month, and i remember that i felt great too. :D so nobody could've told me that i lost too much too fast. LOL
i think you can tell by how you feel.
I'm really frustrated, every time I seem to get to my least weight that day i seem to have a bad day. I feel like when I see the smallest number on the scale it should motivate me but I'm such a social eater that if my friends ask to go out or my roommate wants to order pizza i just can't say no. I don't know what to do! Whenever I hit low, i gain like a pound back that day and then work for like the next 3 days to get down again! I need to figure out how to not get sucked into social eating without being an anti social!
You can still have the pizza just one slice instead of two or three. You can still go out to a burger joint just have the burger minus the fries and watch what you intake the rest of the day. I am by far an expert but I would say that in order to keep yourself pleased and not gain your weight back this owuld be best.
Snowfence: Do you think I will gain all this weight back? Is that what you mean by saying especially since I just started, or maybe you mean I will stop losing for a while? I really am afraid of this, I see 139 one day the next 140 or 141 and i am getting so frustrated, I have really cut out any and all junk (well today i had a chocolate chip cookie, and a few mini tootsie rolls, oops!) so I am real scared I am either going to plateu really early or gain it back.....Any advice?
boven: it IS frustrating losing weight & then going out, but if you really want to keep the weight off, that IS the best way to do it!

think of it this way: it's not like you're ever gonna quit going out & socializing, right? you need to keep thinking of this as a lifestyle change & NOT a diet. just cut down with other things that you CAN live without & yeah, get busy for the next 3 days. :D like melness said, eat the pizza! enjoy it!!! just have less than you used to, etc, AND watch your intake for the rest of the day... like eat carrots, celery, cucumber, tomatoes, salad... low fat, low calories.

melness: i'm not an expert either! LOL of course i did lose 75 pounds, so i kind of know how this all works! :D NO!!! i don't think you'll gain ANY of that weight back! you seem really determined to me & i think you'll think before you eat from now on. of course, sometimes it IS worth eating whatever you're considering.

i just said that because you usually DO lose the most when you 1st start, AND when you are really determined. i don't think you will stop losing or plateau either. it might slow down though, so just don't get discouraged when it does!!! just make sure that you ARE eating enough. :D

i like to keep a weight loss chart. i weigh myself every month on the 4th, because i started on the 4th. it helps to remind me that i AM losing! sometimes you just feel like you're not losing & the chart will show you that you are! :D hey! as long as that scale keeps moving, right? well, and in the right direction...
^^^ I really like the chart idea. I know we have one on here but actually seeing something like that on my fridge might be helpful. Congrats on your weight loss!
slowly but surely...
and at out weight, it should come off slow anyway! :D
I am really beginning to get unmotivated....lol. If that is even a word. I really need some encouragement, I know all my work is paying off I am losing inches, but I am just getting tired of the diet and exercise routine....Help!
I'll be weighing in later today.....
I'm exited to see everyones progress
hi everyone! well, i was 146 on 4/26 when i 1st posted, and i'm 143 now, so i guess that's good. i was hoping for 142 today, but at least it's close. 143.2! LOL
you don't need alot of motivation & you don't need alot of work. just make simple changes. changes that you can live with. :D
just remember, anything is better than nothing! sometimes i exercise during commercials & even that little bit helps! or i'll just eat a little more fruits & veges...
i hope everyone did well this week!
Good morning everyone! Today is the dreaded weigh-in day! Today I'm 139 lbs. (down .5 from my first post on 4/29) which is a miracle because I've had a bad few days of eating.
Melness - I was where you are now about 2 weeks ago. I was so sick and bored of dieting and exercising. As far as the dieting I was so consumed with the idea that I was "deprived". I was so pissed that everyone around me could eat anything they wanted and I can't. Plus, eating well seemed to be too much work! I picked up a book on the advice of my trainer called "The Clean Eating Diet" by Tosco Reno. Her principles aren't unlike many other diets we've all probably tried before, however I did take away a few great tips from the book. Reading books like hers help to keep me on track by reminding me why I want to eat better and the benefits of doing so. Eating well is not deprivation, but rather something that will make me feel and look better. My payoff will be how I look in the jeans I want, and at that point it doesn't matter about those cookies I passed up. As far as the exercise, I pretty much hated it but I'm finding ways to enjoy it now and actually look forward to my workouts. I think as long as you mix it up you won't get tired of the routine. Rather than making it a "routine" figure out how you can challenge yourself next time. I've been challenging myself with HIIT (high intensity interval training). You can search CC or the internet for info. It's a great way to burn calories and I find that it mixes things up. Also try different activities. Sometimes I walk, sometimes I run, sometimes I bike, I try not to do the same thing each day because that DOES get boring. Hope this helps to encourage you.
Snowfence: 75lbs is amazing :) Its nice to hear that perseverence and time will win in the end.
Congrats on the losses this week Lemon, Renee and Snowfence! How's everyone else doing??
