Did anyone watch Ruby the new documentary on E last night?
This was such a good show, there wasn't much on last night so i watched it. It was really heart breaking to watch it. She seems like such a sweetheart. Did anyone watch it?
Clarice
I did! I was just flipping through the channels and caught it. I don't usually even watch tv. I guess seeing it was the reason I did last night. WOW! I really hope she gets down to her goal. I think she will, she seems to have the right mindset. I might have to keep trying to catch it. I felt inspired by it. I don't have near as much as she does to lose, and I've lost at least half of it already, but I see where I was headed if I didn't change now. If she can do it, I have no excuse! And yeah, I cried a bit...I'm a softy. I guess I've really never understood being that big until I heard her speak. Poor girl. Yeah, she did it to herself, but now she's taking the steps to undo it and that's what's important. Most of us have done the same thing to differant degrees to ourselves...more than likely for similar reasons. Go Ruby! I'm rooting for you!
darn, I didn't. I MEANT to, I saw a lot of the previews leading up to it, but I dont really end up remember what times/channels things are on...I'll have to set my dvr to record it! LOL
I actually caught it Sunday on Oxygenwhen it initially aired and she is such a sweetheart. When I saw her the special (not the actual show) She already looked quite a it smaller than she was, I wonder what her goal weight is?
Darn, I meant to watch it too but forgot when exactly it came on and ended up watching reruns on the DVR. What time was it on?
Gar, I meant to also. I bet I can get it online, though. WILL WATCH!
I watched it.
I liked the show and think Ruby is probably a joy but I had some issues...
Her weightloss seemed to become everyone else's responsibility. Her friend Georgia, her nephew, her roomie - they were all talking about keeping watch over her diet and exercise routine. It just seemed like a twisted sticky web of codependency and enabling.
It may have just been the editing but that part of the show really .. irked... me. I'll watch it again, though. I really like that she's going to therapy to try to address the underlying issues. She seems like a dynamic person and I really hope she can get it together and reach her goals.
if it is online.. please let me know where!
this is on style network and E.. is it also on bravo - i thought i saw that somewhere? i do not get E and idk about style network. it was on yesterday wed. ?
i would like to watch this - she is very pretty - she will look great when she loses the weight i would imagine.
I watched it and felt for ruby. It's great that she has that support network and is really set on doing it this time. Her progress will be interesting to watch.
I watched it and think it will be an interesting show. I especially liked the conversation with her friends about how they enable her, and her admission that she manipulates people into giving her what she wants. They demonstrated this in the scene at her friend's house where she demands desserts and refuses to limit her portions of them. Her friends give in to her, I think because she is so charming and funny.
jopage has a different take on this

But this topic is a huge breakthrough that gives me the hope that this series will be different. It's a subject I haven't seen tackled and examined before.
I'm mighty tired of all the weight loss "boot camp" style shows. None of them examine reasons in depth, or deal with those of us who are not healthy enough to withstand that kind of rigor.
