True Blood = Buffy with lots of fairly graphic sex scenes.

Sookie isn't a vampire slayer, her grandma is dead Buffy's Mom died too, and who said Bill is actually keeping her safe Who said Angel was keeping Buffy safe?.

Huh?

If you're just trying to argue, fine.  But...ah hell, nevermind.

True Blood is better because of the excess humping.  There, I said it.  It's all about the humping baby!Wink

I did like the TV show but I don't think the Sookie novels are a total rip off of the tv show.

You're right, the Sookie novels are way different than Buffy: hot blonde chick with super powers she doesn't want, living in a community where vampires live amongst the people, surrounded by a group of friends including a witty female best friend, a younger sibiling who's always getting in trouble, an older parential figure watching over her, and a nice, safe, male friend who's really in love with her but she won't give him the time of day because she's too distracted by the mysterious, hansome, non-evil vampire-with-a-soul who helps keep her safe and out of trouble...

I thought we were talking about the Sookie Novels and not the TV show Trueblood here. In the books Sookie doesn't have a best friend. Tara isn't even in the first book, she shows up at almost the very end of the second book and is a very minor character, she also isn't what I would call a witty character. She isn't even in some of the other books, she is just a minor character that Sookie sometimes talks to. Jason is also fairly minor has far as the books go, yes he is Sookie's brother, but the books can go a pretty long time without him in them.

I may be a little confused here but who is the older parental figure watching over her?

As someone else already said Bill is a pretty different character in the books, and I actually think Sookie is too. I hated the way she reacted to certain events in the TV show, I was constantly saying to my TV set Sookie would never say that.

To me the books are a ton better than the tv show is, they didn't do an awful job of it, the basic plot is the same, but they really did change some major things. I don't really think you can discuss things from the book if you have only seen the tv show.

That's what I'm sayin.

lol bring on the humping! Surprised

You want humping?  Check out Episode 7 - the first two minutes BEFORE the credits even start.  Straight up hot vampire porn!

I love the books, but I'm also in love with the series.  I think they've set things up very well to make you still love the characters you love now even after events in future books take place.  And lots of foreshadowing, so it's a safe bet those events will take place and not just be abandoned.

I didn't say either one was better, I was just pointing out that True Blood is a pretty blatant rip-off of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Okie dokie.

I agree...I enjoy the books a ton more :)

The author signed away rights to HBO, so they can take the show in any direction they want. She'll keep writing the books in her view and the show will continue in HBO's view...they are two very different story lines :)

3 more weeks to go.

The way Bill said Sookie ("Sookaay") in his Southern drawl always ellicited a snort+lol from me. I only watched the first six or so episodes though, so maybe it's changed.

Hee hee looking forward to the next season. Dig the blonde vampire way more than I should. He was also in Generation Kill - hot to the 10th power. :)

So close yet so far!

I KNEW IT WASN'T HIM IN THE CAR!  YAY!

Yikes! What is Marrianne? I'm guessing succubus, but then maybe South Park is still stuck somewhere in the recesses of my brain.

awwww...you blew it for me....I didn't see it yet...it's on my DVR....serves me right for even looking in here...lol

Oops, sorry Eddie. Embarassed I was really excited it wasn't him.

In the book Marryann is a Maenad.  Not sure what's she is on the show.

it's ok...I saw it lastnight....damn you see how he tore that guy up....lifted him up with one hand, and just started chewing on him like he was breakfast meat....

Hope he didn't ruin his highlights.

lol..I saw that too......that was funny...

I was just about to post if anyone was watching TB.  Glad to hear I'm not the only one.  I like the show.  Favorite character is Jason...sookies brother I think.  Anyhow, what's the deal with the Witch...she is a witch right?  I cant believe Lafayette didn't make it out of the club basement. Sure would like like to get a hold of some "V" though.
