I work part time at a chocolatier/patisserie, so the thought of being there whilst on a strict diet should be hell, but this week it wasn't actually that bad. I realised that the only times I ate there were when cakes were left out the back for staff to nibble on, so all I needed to do was just make sure I didn't go out back! I also made sure I always had a drink with me to make me feel fuller, because most of the time I'm there and I think I'm hungry, its just because I'm bored and around amazing looking food! It helped that my boss had started a diet the same time as me so we took it in turns to go and chop the carrots for us to snack on, haha.
I am the General Manager of a good 4-star hotel, this of course means temptations everywhere: from a fantastic breakfast buffet to excellent dinners. I had no choice but to install a kitchen in my appartment (I live in the hotel); that way my wife can cook and I can control what I eat.
The hardest was changing my breakfast habits. Bye-bye omlets and cheese, hello fruit and bran. Luckily, I live in the Mekong Delta and fruit is plentuful and varied.
The only time I lapse is when we have our Christmas and New Year's Eve Gala buffets, but that is luckily only twice a year;-)

Also, busy = more excercise! Does for me anyway, we have two flights of stairs :( / :)
I do allow myself a black coffee or a tea in the afternoons though, I always need my afternoon buzz to stop me shouting at toddlers.

I own a restaurant so I am surrounded by and work with food morning, noon, and night. I bring in a lot of my own foods so I am not tempted by the high calorie stuff. Lately, I've started putting together healthy crockpot meals - lots of veggies and a little meat. When we have fish for a special, I'll have the cook grill or bake some for me. I'll also have him put in a sweet potato when he puts the baking potatoes in the oven for the dinner shift. I've managed to radically change my eating habits and lose 60 pounds so far without feeling like I'm missing out on the good stuff.
My boyfriends is like that now.. Well, he's better than he used to be. He never had time to eat much at home because he'd work 12 hour days at a mexican restaruant..so he's just grab what he could eat there. working in the kitchen that was easy for him..
but then he went online and so how many calories were in it adding up the 3,000 calories PER meal..and that ended that pretty quickly!

i work at a bar-b-q resteraunt, and think that contributed to some of my weight gain. now, i always take my lunch, and always take a snack, that way i am not tempted to eat something in front of me. but i do understand. i have to be there at 5:45 in the morning, so i always eat breakfast before. always!
I work at a fine dining restaurant, where they always cook a delicious
staff meal on Thursdays and Fridays. I used to try bringing my
own lunch, but I would always end up eating the lunch I brought and
then "sampling" the staff meal anyway, because it would always be so
good.
It took a lot of thought, but I finally decided that those 2 days of the week, I'd leave my own food at home (saves on the $$ too) and take a *small* portion of the staff meal. At least it's not fast food, or salty pre-packaged food. I also try and balance it out with a healthy breakfast and dinner those days. Only trouble is, it makes my calorie counting very difficult those two days, since I don't know what all the Chef puts in there :/

OMg, yes! I started wokring at Hardee's in September and since then have eaten more fast food in the past five months than I have in the past seven years -- no exaggeration!
The worst part was that if you work "x" hours you get a free meal. I've compromised by getting diet pop, skipping the fries, and ordering the healthiest sandwich I can find. (Charbroiled Chicken, NOT THE CLUB, hold the mayo, comes on a whole wheat bun with lettuce and tomato. About 350-400 calories.) But sometimes I slip up and get a big cookie. And it's really hard not to snitch fries when everyone else does.

This is so hard for me.I work at Grannys Kitchen part-time about 4 to 5 days every evening. And I try to eat the greens and green beans maybe a small bowl of beans. But sometimes am not so good.I thought after a few months it would get better but just worse because i know how good everything is.My main meal is a grilled chicken salad no dressing.I try my best to eat this when i work. But i know how hard it is.
i know i tell ya ;)
i am a cater part time. well, barely even part time. more like once per month since I am a full time college student.
but yesterday for example, we catered a formal event and for dessert: cheesecake and lemon tarts, two treats I love. Plus, I have a bad habit of needing to sample EVERYTHING. So coming home and doing the calorie count was shockinig and gross....I can't believe how quickly all those samples turned out to be....over 4000 calories!
I am ashamed.

I am a pastry chef for a very large caterer, yet I don't eat desserts...lol...but there is always something wickedly fattening to eat nearby...just the smell of bacon cooking makes me drool....to combat my almost constant desire to gorge myself, I've started drinking more water and non-calorie drinks...my stomach is full of fluids most of the day, and i feel fuller. Also, if it doesn't have nutrition info on it, It doesn't go in my mouth...makes it hard to just grab and go....
I used to work at McDonald's as a teenager and that's where I got my first big weight gain. In the summers i'd work 4 days per week and usually eat 2 meals from there everytime I went in. I went from a size 11 to a 13 in 2 months.
Working in the Fast Food industry while trying to lose weight is so incredibly difficult. I would suggest bringing in big, healthy meals with you so you dont have to eat what's there, and having breakfast beforehand. (incorporate soups into your lunches. You'll be super full!0
Also, plan a big reward for yourself if you can stay on track. It will help with motivation.
