Ok, it's not a trek, it *is* a race, but for me the goal is finishing, not winning.

I purchased a 2L Camel Pak the other day, and I'm wondering if there is something I should be adding to the water I put in it on the day of the event... event is 50km total (roads, single and double track trail stuff).

I'm usually good with water on my long rides (45+ km), but because this is going to be more physically trying, I'm wondering if something like Gatorade might be better?  I don't like Gatorade, or anything with that amount of sugar in it, so any other suggestions or recommendations are appreciated.

(btw:  There are water stations along the route as well, which I will use to supplement my water intake to make sure I get enough)

Find out if the water stations will have gatorade or some other electrolite drink. If they do I'd stick with water and have a sip of gatorade at the water stations. If it's going to be really hot outside though, you may want to use a small amout of gatorade powder in your camel.

From what I've heard from other riders who have done the race before, the stations only have bottled water and bananas...

I use Emergen-C before every workout.

Add some "pedialyte" to your water, you can get the flavored or non flavored..........find it in the baby section.  It provides the electrolytes you will need.

Should be fine then. Bananas and potatoes are like rocket fuel for cycling. :)
