Is there anyway to get rid of muscle?

Quote  |  Reply
I know everyone says to build it up so your metabolism is faster but I already have a ton of muscle from gymnastics which I quit last year. I want to lose fat AND muscle.
I can't seem to build any lean muscle and even if I did I don't think I would look as I want to.
I build muscle pretty fast I thinkLike I started doing these ab workouts 4 days ago andn I already have some really great abs!
I'm trying Turbo jam cardio and pilates right now, will that help or am I building even more?
Am I just being silly or is this possible?

I dont think there is such a thing as "fat muscle". Muscle is lean. Fat is fat. If you are concern of bulking up, for women chances are very low unless you are on steroid or pushing your muscle endurance beyond extreme everytime you exercise.

if you feel you are actually getting extra girth is probably because you build muscle faster than you shed fat. I hear this a lot, including it happens to myself.

I don't recommend your goal of losing muscle, instead just focus on losing the fat. Do a lot of cardio will focus on burning calories and fat. Turbo Jam has cardio routine. Or simply go run for a couple miles outdoor, jump rope, or if you have access to the gym, hop on the treadmill or elliptical, or stationary bike.
just do a lot of cardio and maybe some yoga or Pilate's. no weights at all, you will slim down, and hopefully the yoga and Pilate's will keep your muscles firm, if that doesn't work, you will get soft, but you will get what you want.
I have the same problem.  I actually just posted about it yesterday.

Basically, alot of cardio.  The longer and harder will help you "lose" some muscle in addition to fat.  This is the response I got on my thread if you want to read it.  I'm not sure about pilates, but I heard yoga will help lengthen your muscles if you tend to get bulk muscles in your legs like mine.
Maybe it just seems big cause there's still fat underneath? Don't know just a thought haha.
I have some suggestions- When you do cardio- go for time length. What will happen is after 30 minutes you will tap into the glycogen stores in the belly of the muscle and they will begin to shrink.  If you lift- use toning exercises, 12-15 reps for each set and only do training like that once a week.  An even better option than the once a week exercises is a toning class.  You cannot build muscle and burn fat at the same time- you choose one or the other.  Weight lifters go back and forth across the season to become both muscular and lean.  You are in a perfect position, just start working on the weight loss.  Cut your calories by 500/day and you will get there in no time.  Stay clear of processed carbs like sugar and white bread as they mess with your insulin levels and make it hard to shed fat.  You will be little in no time!
Oops, just read my post and realized that I wasn't clear- do the cardio five days a week, but only do the toning lifting once, or just opt for a toning/cardio class.
