what is the appeal of being super skinny?

Quote  |  Reply

I'm seeing member pictures on here of extremely skinny people. I know it's all 'media' and 'society' but I see celebrities and models too and I'm not trying to look like a stick, nor do I think they even look attractive (their extremities are boney and veiny). What's attractive about having your skeletal structure showing? To look like you'd struggle to pick up a can of soup? I don't think they are all anorexics, which is psychological issues, these are people who just seem to find it attractive!?

I guarantee you any guy would find her more attractive than her!

*note* I'm not saying you have to look like the first girl to be considered attractive, just saying she is still thin but has some muscle and shape to her.

I agree with you 100%. There can be a happy medium between that skinny and being heavy.  Everytime I see one the skinnier people out at the mall or something all I can think is go eat something.  I know it's wrong to think that about all of them and I'm sorry.

I agree with you too, but I also find myself envying models and people who do have almost unattractively tiny bodies like that. I guess its just the media and I am the perfect example of one of the people who have fallen into the trap or whatever. I too see skinny girls sometimes and think like "go eat a cupcake now please," but at the same time, it might be more of a jealousy issue.

I personally think I do in general find like Victoria Secret models more attractive than runway models, for example, but at the same time, I have a body thats never going to be like either. If only I wasn't so easily swayed and consumed by the media.. it really is an issue.

I find the 2nd one more attractive (given the option of the two).

too skinny isnt good.... but large chest and huge curves arent the "selling point" for all men.
The first model...large chest?  Huge curves?  Hmm.

I agree that the first model is way sexy, but she is photoshopped
I find the second one more attractive, but she is a little thin.  some people actually do prefer the slimmer look.  not everyone loves curves.
I'm a guy and I like the skinny one better. It's not even close.
Haha I don't care for either one! Both are too damn skinny. Everyone is different.
In my experience, people who grow up never being skinny tend to want to be skinny, either because of how they were treated growing up, or just to see what the hell it's like.

I was never skinny.  I was a fat little kid and that's why they nick named me "tater tot" when I was in kindergarten.  I was short, golden, and round.  However, I think skinny is ugly.  I'm still considered to be fat (I'll take full figured, thanks) but I love how my body looks in my size 11 pants and my medium tops.  If this were a healthy weight for me, I'd stay here.

I like the first one .. But I think she is very skinny as well(albeit not as much as the second one) .. and in order to look like her, you really need to diet and workout...... and maybe get some work done!
some people are on here because they have extremely fast metabolisms and lose weight just by doing everyday things.  Add in exercise (done for cardio-health benefits) and its a challenge to get enough calories each day.  So keeping track of that to make sure we get enough helps.  Sorry if that pisses some people off - deal with it.  I'm not anorexic and I do eat alot of cupcakes - actually more muffins and cakes than cupcakes, but whatever.  I eat over 2500 calories most days in an attempt to gain weight.

I would rather have curvier hips and bigger boobs, however genetics didn't deal me that hand.  Just like overweight people weren't dealt the hand of being thin.  I'm not complaining - I think I'm luckier to be able to eat what I what than to have to watch what I eat, but that doens't mean that I like being underweight and bony.  I am extremely offended by the OP.  Alot of people on here make alot of judgments about others....
I thought that the second one looked creapy skinny.  Nothing but skin and bones.  Reminds me of the pictures I see of the starving people in Africa.  I don't know why anybody would do that to their body.  I am a bit overweight, but I have been told that I actually look better with a little fat on me, and that I have a better attitude as well.
They are both unacceptable, cost them about 200$ for 5 mins of time with me!
I don't know how anyone could prefer the second picture.  She might look okay with clothes on but in that picture she looks awful.  Girl one has a figure. (my opinion)

This is what makes the world go round. People have different tastes. I don't find either one particularly attractive but that just me. Someone else may feel different.

I don't know  why people get so up in arms that someone wants to be skinny or because someone finds super skinny people attractive. What ever floats your boat go for it.

Not everyone is the same......

I think the second girl is prettier [=

Im straight tho! lol :)

edit: as for guys...i rather have a guy with a lil something to grab but with some muscle tone aswell....i dont like beef cakes haha and i dont like those skinny boys who fit into girls jeans...creappy ><

Amazon FTW! I think that's why a lot of modern women wish they were rail thin.

I struggle with wanting to be thin myself. I'm built like a boy. If I were to starve myself I would still have my broad shoulders & remain 5'5.

As much as I love being strong enough to snap that skinny bitch in half, there is a part of me that wishes I were 6'4 115lbs.

Pretty tough call to make there. I like both of them for different reasons.

when i look at the second one, all i can think of is pain. &the first one- surgery.

i think they're both pretty. but i can honestly see beauty in everyone.
