so i ve been eating about 2500 calories for the past week. this has been a big struggle mainly because im NEVER hungry. i cant remember the last time i felt hunger. i read everyone else on here recovering has like the exact oppesite situation where they're always hungry. does anyone know why this is happening to me? and why i have to keep force feeding myself when food sounds absolutely awful?
ps. - i have been drinking a lot of the calories to try and help.... im not bloated or anything but really just NO appetite for food.
no, ur not the only one and i havent seen u post any of ur meals.
its calling eating mechanically. u need to eat even when ur not hungry. eat every few hrs maybe planning out ur meals to ensure that u do get the minimum of 2500 cals.
remember, eat high cal, dense foods, to get the most cals in that u can if ur not hungry.
apetite will come and go. in a few days ur body may get used to it and u might start to feel hungry. also, i found having a larger bfast, as in 800+ helps get the cals in. space it out so ur not left at the end of day w too many cals leftover.
bottom line, eat even if ur not hungry.
yeah i started work yesterday so my life has been CRAZY. i will def post my meal plan tonight/ tmr but i was wondering...
does this mean im still in starvation mode? should i maybe force more cals?
it doesnt "mean" anything and try not to get in the habit of overanalyzing if possible, nothing is an exact science.
also, 2500 is only the suggested MINIMUM, if u want to go for more, and if u dont gain after a week of consistnatly eating 2500+, then yes, by all means have more, it is only the minimum-
REMEMBER, NO LIMIT WHEN GAINING!!
ps, if u dont gain after 1 week, add 250 cals at least daily
okay im sorry for overanalyzing. but yes i will DEF keep eating, i have so much more energy during the day which is a plus. and i have already gained..i gained 1.5 lbs last week wooo!! so im just gonna keep it up i guess and hope i get hungry eventually bc force feeding is never fun ya know?
u dont have to be sorry...
keep eating, ull get ur apetite back!
also, its very common to gain a lot the 1st week of eating, u may lose the next week or stay the same, again, its not a science. so keep eating 2500+! deff space out ur food and try to eat a good amount in the morning and during the day, rather than keeping it for night time.
Some ways to develop a healthy appetite.....
- Eat flavoursome, interesting foods rather than bland, boring ones. Tasty food is more tempting
- Choose more energy-dense, nutrition-dense foods rather than bulky low-cal foods like vegetables. This means your meals are smaller.
- Eat/snack regularly... every 2 hours initially.... 'little and often' fashion. A regular intake stimulates the appetite
- Get some fresh air and gentle exercise every day... a walk around the block does the trick
- Drink warm fluids like tea and broths..... keeps your digestion working properly and prevents feelings of sluggishness and bloating
- Finally... persevere
