I rarely eat breakfast. I usually eat just lunch and dinner and sometimes hardly anything. I have a problem eating without smoking marijuana. I do smoke cigarettes, which I am trying to quit, and drink alcohol twice a week. What could I do to gain weight and eat three meals a day?
Answer
Stimulate your appetite by taking a multivitamin-mineral supplement. Zinc enhances the taste of food and B-vitamins regulate the appetite. Herbs and spices trigger hunger too. Try peppermint, ginger, cinnamon, and bitter orange as seasonings or teas. Any exercise that raises the heart rate is an appetite regulator; work-up an appetite by being active outdoors. Make your meals pleasant by eating with others and by serving good food. Get help to prepare your meals or go out to eat.
Loss of appetite can signify a medical problem, and so visit your doctor for a physical exam and blood work. To stimulate weight gain, doctors sometimes prescribe Marinol® (dronabinol), synthetic THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, or Megace (megestrol acetate).
