Apple Cider Vinegar used to lose weight?

Quote  |  Reply

I've heard that you can use apple cider vinegar to help shed some pounds...as it makes you feel "full". Taking 1-3 tablespoons of this stuff before eating, obviously starting out with 1...and it'll help you feel fuller to where you won't eat as much.

Any body else heard about this or have done this? Does it work?

Uhm ... EW.

Spare yourself the nastiness of drinking vinegar, and just have a glass of water before a meal.

In the 19th century women supposedly drank vinegar so they'd look pale, sickly and "more feminine".

I wouldn't.  Like hgielrehtaeh said, just have a glass of water before your meals.

If you want to test drive this, I'd try hot n' sour soup.  Personally, I can't stand vinegary stuff at all.  I can't even stand the smell, when my husband uses Tabasco sauce.

What about mixing the vinegar in the glass of water? Would that just defeat the purpose?

Again, if you want to drink vinegar, then do it. But it would be just as effective to spare yourself and drink water.

According to an article in WebMd, apple cider vinegar should be diluted in water before swallowing.

It also points out that there are actually risks involved with consuming apple cider vinegar, and that the effectiveness on the conditions it's reported to treat has not been scientifically verified - although there are preliminary studies.

Thanks! I think I'll just stick to drinking a glass of water before and with all meals!

when i was 17 i took the aplle cider vinegar pills in the vitamin section. back then i dropped from 145 to 123 - now im 24 and all over again tryin to lose. but i cant take them b/c of breastfeeding, but i took them cause i haerd vinegar burned fat. in fact a woman my mom met said she drank a cup of vinegar a day to help her maintain her weight- but she took the stuff to lose weight first. im not sure if the pills helped my weightloss back then, but i took one a day when i had.

they have a slight aftertaste so have water to guzzle- but they r natural and i dont think they hurt! They r cheap too!

good luck!

I bought it from TJ but haven't tried it yet. I think it will be ok if you have it with water. Maybe, it will reduce the appetite...

I have heard that the apple cidar vinegar is really good for all kinds of different things....killing toxins and bacteria in the body.  My mother-in-law bought this book at an antique store and was reading it to me, but, I have also heard that it can have some terrible effects on your stomach lining and esphogus.  I haven't the faintest idea anymore on what is good or bad, but I just figured that vinegar is pretty strong and swallowing the liquid, might burn all the way down!!! Probably beter to take the pills..... who knows??!!

I'm currently doing the Apple Cider Vinegar (diluted in water). Seems to be working for me.
