i am not upset... just surprised because i never heard before that fruit had fat in them...so i thought maybe there is something wrong!!

2.5% of your daily recommended amount of fat means that you could eat 40 apples and still not have too much dietary fat.

not that i'm recommending you eat nothing but apples, okay?  that's not my point.

Does tap water have fat in it?

Most fruit have a teeny bit of fat, but it's well under 1 g.

Haha, on a similar note: I recently had someone tell me that bananas weren't good for you cause they're "very fatty". :/

how many grams of fat am i supposed to consume daily in order to lose 1-2 pounds a week..?

It doesn't matter how much fat you eat. Dietary fat does not equal adipose tissue. It's all in the calorie balance.

You should probably eat about 30% fat.

No its means 2.5% of the calories in the apple comes from fat  , In fact I stay away from all fatty fruits and vegetables,

Lettuce: 15% fat

Celery: 10%

Strawberries: 8%

Tomato: 8%

Alfalfa sprouts: 25%!!!!

Fruit and vegetables contain fat... some more than others.  Olives, avocados and nuts contain enough fat to be usefully extracted.

its less then 2 calories of fat an apple. You burn that off eating the apple it self. Plus, there are good and bad fats, dont think apple fat is as bad as butter fat.

I call BS.

Actually, she is right.  I just checked.  A stalk of celery has 19 calories.  2 calories from fat.  That is actually more that 10%.

I think the post was made to show how silly it is to worry about the fat content in many fruits and vegetables.  10% of very little is still very little.

yeah, that was the BS I was talking about.

I never thought bananas were too high it fat. It just has high carbohydrates and that is why runner's eat them before a long run. So bananas are good for before or after a workout, I think.

to the OP: you do realize that any "fat" found in fruit and/or vegetables aren't going to be unhealthy fats.

if celery (which is mostly water) has fat, then most likely ANYTHING you could possibly put in your mouth will have fat too.

I'm a little surpised and intriged by this fact.  It just seems off that fruit would be fatty...  But I just never really thought about it, in my head I guess, fat always comes from an animal (or nut I guess).  But then I realize I use "Vegetable Oil."

Gee, thanks for making me use my brain so dang early Smile!!  (I know my time stamp says eastern time, but really its not even 6:30am here in Oregon).

LOL! Fats from fruits are not bad for you! Besides your body needs fat too. The Guideline Daily Allowance (GDA) used in the UK suggests that adults should have around 70g of fat only 20g from saturated fat.

You'll probably find that the type of fat in apples is polyunsaturated. It is one of the "Healthy Fats". There is plenty of information regarding this. See this article that I found after googling for it: Healthy Fats - Choosing the right fats for your diet.

You need it for your brains, lungs, eyes, hair and many other things including energy. Apparently 60% of your brain is composed of fat!

Perhaps you should worry more about the sugar content in apples rather then the fat :P    (A medium apple contains 14g of sugar*. It really messes with low-carb diets)

Right I'm off to have my second apple of the day :D

*edited it here because I was supposed to write sugar and wrote fat
