I have an apple question. I like hard, crispy apples. Anybody know what brand is like that? I thought Braeburn's were like that so I bought a bunch and they're soft....I HATE soft apples. Anybody...anybody?

Try Gala and Fuji apples!
northern spies are usually the crispest ones, but i can't find them very often. my favorite crispy apple right now is the jonagold. a little sweeter than a jonathan, crisper than a golden delicious.
Fujis are so good you'll never look back.
But most of the ones I find are mammoth, so it's more like 2 servings.

I wasn't really an apple eater until a friend introduced me to the Honeycrisp apples. They're really hard to find though (or at least where I live they are)...so I've taken a liking to Pink Lady's...both really crisp and juicy. I don't like soft apples either.
OMG! I thought I was the only one who hates soft apples! ha! I'm going to try and find some of these apples.
Thanks!
Thanks!
you are sooooo not the only one who hates soft apples. i am an apple FREAK. i'll pick apples up and inspect them trying to find some sign of softness. my favorite are honeycrisp which are sooo crunchy and amazing, and pink ladiesss.
Granny Smith are the best firm ones to buy. I don't like mushy apples either. They are a litte more tart than the other ones, but I think they are really good. Kinda like the jolly rancher green apple taste, but not quite that sour.
And this is why I love this site....thank you all you helpy helpertons....so pretty much all apples in the store I went to were crisp except for the ones I got...ha. Figures! I'll give my DD the Braeburns...she loves 'em. I'm getting new ones!
i'll "weigh" in too.. honey crisps, pink ladies, granny smiths and braeburns... keeps me going
I eat Red Delicious apples...they are very crispy and I think they are very good.
I just bought the last of the honeycrisp at my grocer. I bought 30 apples. I did ask my grocer about other apples like the honeycrisp and he cut me up a "jazz" apple and I love them also.
Very close to the honeycrisp.
Good luck.

try MacIntoshs tart/sweet crunchy yum
braeburns and fujis are usually very crisp and juicy. But if stored too long, or improperly, they get mealy, as will any apple. Fujis especially have a short season and any that you buy now are likely to be soft.
I like honeycrisp and ginger gold, and there's always good old granny smith.

omg soft apples are NASTY. haha.
I'd actually say red delicious are the least crispy I've had in a while; my favorite is Fuji, but Honeycrisp isn't bad.
Ok, I have an add on question. I like firm apples too. I bought Fujis recently and they were very tart. I prefer sweeter apples. Soooo, any suggestions?
I dont like soft apples either. I've found that I'm never disappointed with a Delicious apple....always crisy and not at all tart. I eat at least 1 everyday. But they have to be cold!
honeycrisp! its right in the name!!!! sweetness and crispiness.......the perfect apple!:D
Here's a tip for apples on the go. If you like to cut your apples into slices but hate how they get brown, you can sprinkle the slices with fresh lemmon juice. You can slip them into a plastic bag and they will look and taste fresh hours later!
dont really do soft apples.. I like a granny smith, nice crisp green apple.. havin one in a min :)
