I am unfotunately apple shaped. My legs are so muscular and thin but my back and shoulders are so wide and i have a belly! i am so self concious ... i always think people are staring at me! ive been trying to figure out ways to get my back fat to go awway and lose some weight but i cant seem to do the trick! is there anyone else out there thats apple shaped and going through the same **** i am?? i cant help to hate my body and i wanna get over it. i like to wear shorts and a tshirt to show off my legs but i still feel uncomfortable because of my shoulders... ya know?  i cant find any pants to fit right... most give me a saggy ass lol im not that big but i look it. i just dont know how some girls i know that are bigger then i am where the same size or smaller! i cant seem to get the courage to even show i guy im interested. i get so self concious and worried. grrr sorry for the venting... hehe. any advice ladies??

I'm going to suggest a couple of books by Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine.   "What Not To Wear"...  and ... "The Body Shape Bible"

They're very good at explaining what shape clothes are going to suit your body-shape and show it off best.   There are lots of illustrations to help you shop.   Losing weight takes time and effort whereas (and I've found this to be true) simple changes to the types of clothes you buy can make you look 7lbs slimmer overnight.  This also massively affects your confidence... which sounds like a problem for you.

So dress to your shape, look better and feel more confident.

I am the same shape as you.....and there are times it gets really frusterating, so I totally know how you feel. Being fitter, and healthier has helped me feel better...and then just accepting the shape I was given....and learning to love myself. As far as guys go.......there are plenty of men who love our shape :) And when the "J-LO booty" goes out, and flat butts are in.....we will be the envy of all...LOL ;)

 I am going to look at the links gi-jane posted......dressing to make the most of our shapes is a very good tip :)

I just looked up some tips online for how to dress an apple shape...and found lots of good advice....try that :) Also.....Katherine Zeta Jone, and Drew Barrymore have our shapes....not bad :)

Unfortunately you cannot spot reduce. You can't tell your body to lose weight off your back and stomach first. And since you're an apple shape, usually those places are the last place to lose fat. 

I suggest a clean diet, exercise 5-6 days a week, and calorie counting. If you've never dieted before this may sound daunting, but make changes in your lifestyle slowly. You don't have to become healthy all at once. 

Since you're young you still have plenty of time to get healthy. However, it is really important that you lose your visceral fat (belly fat) soon because people who carry fat around the middle are at a much higher risk for many health complications. 

In the meantime, find some clothes that flatter your figure!!! I have huge thighs and I'm always jealous of people who look fantastic in tight jeans and miniskirts. Go ahead and wear those things! Flaunt what you got :)
