Apple Shaped - Technigues to stay trim?

I've noticed that people who are pear shaped have a tendency to not have bellies. obviously. They gain weight to their lower body ie. hips and such. But if all my wait goes to my stomach, what can I do to stop the appearance of constant bloated-ness? Is there an excercise technique? A certain way to eat?

 

I just don't want to be apple-shaped...

I gain weight in the stomach area as well, and although my suggestion isn't really a quick fix, it definitely worked for me. :]

I started doing light sit ups (legs flat on the floor, raising body w/ arms straight in front of you) a little less than a year ago, then I did more of those before progressing to more difficult ones (knees bent, you can keep the arms in front of you but later you'll have to start putting your hands behind your head). Now I do ones that have your knees bent at 90 degrees (put them up on a chair, couch, whatever), and I keep my arms behind my head all the time. I do 4 sets of 25, and in between sets I lift weights.

It takes a while to progress to the 90-degree thing (at least it did for me, I couldn't do it for the longest time!), but now I appreciate everything I've worked through even though it took a while.

As dreadful as sit ups may seem, they pay off after a while - and I'm very happy that I didn't give up. I have a flat stomach thanks to the persistence! :] Good luck, and stay encouraged!

i'm so glad there's a post like this. i'm apple-shaped too.  when i wake up in the morning my stomach is flat... but as soon as i eat something... even if i'm not stuffed... i feel so bloated and fat in the stomach and disproportional!!
EXACTLY. It's so weird, like we're freaks of nature.
Haha, I definitely understand - I used to feel sooo bloated after breakfast. The sit ups helped though, so I don't worry about the bloating anymore. :]

You think you're freaks of nature? Try being 13 with a black girls butt (I'm white). ALL of my weight goes to my butt and hips. I have a small frame, but the rest of my body wants to argue. My info.:

Weight: 110

Height: 5'3"

Boobiges: 33.5

Waist: 25

My Large ol' Butt & hips: 35.5

I'm misshapen. A man actually thought I was a hooker one day.Embarassed
