Apples make me hungry

Whenever I eat an apple I'm always hungrier than I was before eating it.

Oh my gosh, I thought I was the only person in the world who had this problem!!! Haha, people think I'm ridiculous when I tell them that...When I was living at home and trying to lose weight, my mom would try to get me to eat apples all the time, saying they'd fill me up, and she would refuse to believe me when I said it would just make me hungrier!

Try eating it with a single portion of cheese (1 oz or the size of your thumb). Works for me.

Same here! I work them in, in a salad or my sushi.

This allllways happens to me too! I love granny smith apples, but I rarely eat them without pb because on their own they just make me way hungrier. I wonder why that is, seeing as how they're pretty high in fibre you'd assume they'd be an especially filling fruit!

Whenever I eat something sweet it always makes me hungrier for more sweets. Apples are no exception.

Me too!  I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one!  I thought I was just an oddball that way...

I love Fuji apples but usually try to pair one with some cheddar cheese or low-fat peanut butter.  That usually takes care of the weird hungry after-effect.

I am that way with apples too.  I don't eat them as often anymore because of that.  I can't see eating them with pb unless I have calories to use up.

BUT, since I don't eat them often I buy them even less often which means I don't usually have any in the house for that snack when my calories permit.

I replaced my apples with pears.  Similar in fiber but don't leave me hungrier.

actually, I forgot to mention that I've found that if I cut the apple up into slices, i'm less likely to feel hungry...I don't know if biting the apple makes you hungry, or what, but cutting it up works better for me.  Maybe it helps mentally to be eating the individual slices by hand or something, I don't know.  And dipping in peanut butter obviously also helps haha...

Me, too.  My accompaniment of choice is also usually cheese.  I always keep lowfat string cheese in the fridge, and apples, because these are two of my son's favorite snacks and, heck, they're good for all of us, and quick and portable, which is also a plus!  I keep an "apple bag" in the produce drawer, which is just a 2-gallon zip bag, which is usually FULL of apples, all colors.  Yeah, we eat a lot of 'em.  Anyway, yeah, a small amount of cheese (or PB) always does the trick for me when eating apples.   I also sometimes serve apple wedges as part of meals, usually breakfast or dinner, which also takes care of the "hungry after" problem.  It's really sweet to see my 3-YO ask his daddy (who is allergic to most things healthy) if he would like for him to get him an apple out of the apple bag.  Smile

I totally avoid eating them just by themselves because I know I will just want to keep eating afterwards.   Although I still enjoy the apple, it is not satisfying enough for me on its own . . . except Honeycrisp.  But only because I could probably eat like 3 in a row . . . as a meal . . . Tongue out

OHHHHHHHH my goshhhh! ME TOO! Ok buttt here's my story.

I fricking LOVE apples. And I love eating them, the crunch, the texture, the color....everything. :) And I would have one a day, and be hungrier a half hour later.

BUT, I started having FIVE APPLES at breakfast every day. I know this seems insane, BUT they take forever to eat and after that, I'm full for the wholeee day. Literally, I get ZERO hunger pains. I mean I'm not BURSTING full, but I just don't get hungry. It's crazy. And it was only 400 cals. haha.

So there's my story about apples and their hunger pain correlation. Oddd.

I eat 1 apple and a lowfat string cheese everyday for breakfast. It keeps me full until lunch, but if I run out of cheese, I am hungry within the hour. So bizarre!
