Approaching the Finish Line Group: Only 20 pounds or LESS left until your goal!!!

Quote  |  Reply

Hello all! This is a group for those of us who have been living a healthy lifestyle for sometime now and have dropped a lot of weight. I know personally after a year of losing weight steadily, I'm finally seeing the finish line approaching. I started at 230 pounds now down to 179 with 19 pounds to go, and I'm thinking it would be nice to chat with other people nearing the end of the line. So if you're getting close to that wonderful phase of your life where you get to maintain, this group is for you! We'll encourage each other, track our progress, and congratulate each other as we meet and exceed our goals!

So go ahead... post your story including where you were, where you are, and where you will be soon!!!

Together I KNOW we can finish up strong!!!!

Girl, I don't even weigh myself during that time of the month.  I know I'm going to be higher than usual so I avoid the scale all together.  My weight loss pattern is pretty strange actually, and it all revolves around my cycle.  Beginning of the cycle, I'm at my lowest weight... my "actual" weight as I like to think of it.  Then about 2 weeks in I start to retain water, then the last week of the cycle I retail a LOT of water.  The next week, week one of the next cycle, I drop several pounds and I'm at my new lower "actual" weight.  It's kind of frustrating, I'd love to be one of those people who just drop a pound a week, you know?

Keep up with it, and I know those 3.2 pounds will just fall off in another couple weeks.  Congratulations on all you've done and all you continue to do!!!

one of the many joys of being a WOMAN!!!!!!!!!! Laughing

i do take water pills during that time of the month...cause i swear i retain so much my pants are uncomfortable!!!!!!!

i am getting excited to see the finish line and start maintaining....kinda scary tho!!!!! i never thought i would be at my goal!!!!! never in a million years did i belileve i would be where i am at now!!!!! my whole lifestyle has changed and thats what I tell people ((and myself)) its not a diet...it was a lifestyle change!!!! thats key!!!!

well i am so glad I found this forum!!

I am SO PROUD OF YOU!  I totally understand the disbelief you feel!  I've never been healthy, ever.  The only time I was ever at my "ideal weight" was senior year of high school.  I had dieted for a year and got there but I was just eating less, not working out, and not being healthy.  Then I went off to college and gained a ton.  The fact that the real FINISH LINE is approaching just blows my mind!!!!!

I am so proud of us for coming this far and being this close!!!!  Hooray for maintenance!  I love that I have a group of people who totally understand how crazy it is to think that my body could actually be NORMAL soon.  Actually, it could be better than normal.  It will be healthy, fit, and HAPPY!  YAY!

Thursday, 05/15/08 Weigh-in:

151 lbs.

Down 1 from last week & 44 total!

Only 21 left to go!

I hate to say it, but up 1 from last week. 159. But I have been so bloated the last week and I am not sure what is causing it. I know that is where the extra weight is coming from. I will try really hard for next week. It shouldn't take too long to get the weight off if I can figure out which food is making my stomach seem 6 months pregnant. I think it is too much dairy, Does it do it to anyone else? How long does it take for the bloat to go away once you stop the dairy? Any help please.

Good Luck to everyone on their weigh in.

Current Weight : 131

Goal Weight : 115

Pounds left to lose : 16

My weight has been staying around 130-135 for a month now.

It is hard to get the last 20 pounds off but I am not giving up!

Today's weigh in..

5/15: 145

down one pound from last week!

Today's weigh in:

176.9

Down from last week, but just how much is hard to tell because it's a week before my cycle.  I'll know better after this week's standard bloating goes away.

16.9 pounds left to go until my ultimate goal.  3.9 pounds to go until my short term goal... which is when I'll be at a "normal" BMI for the first time in nearly 5 years!

tammy_180- I think some of the bloating comes from a high amount of salt in your diet too.  I see bloating when I eat hibachi and then drink a lot of water.  I retain all that water for several days.  It's not healthy to do for long, but if you cut out too many liquids for just a day, you'll see the bloating go away.  I had a day last week where I was literally too busy to drink anything, and the next day the bloating was gone and I was able to get an accurate reading on the scale.  While I don't recommend this, I think it makes a point about the role liquids play in our weight.  Keep your chin up, water weight is MUCH easier to drop than real pounds.  You're doing great and you're totally on the right track.

Keep up the good work everyone.  Make this a great week!

Today's weigh in:

151.0

I am down 2 pounds since last week. I am happy since I usually target Sunday for my weigh in so I still have a few days to try for another pound :)

Next weigh in I hope to hit atleast 149.0

Good luck everyone :)

This group is PERFECT for me. I'm really losing it over here and I don't know what to do. I was going so steady for the first 25lbs and now I'm at the last 20 for my ultimate goal and I just can't seem to do it!

Last week I was 149.4, this week I am 150.8. :(

I join wombatboi in saying that this group is perfect!  I'm so happy to see this thread, as it feels impossible to lose these last 20 pounds.  I think I've been at my current weight for 5 months (with tiny some ups and downs), and I'm just dying to finish this weight loss journey!  My boyfriend is supportive and always tells me that what he’s heard is that these last 20 pounds are the hardest, but it’s comforting to see that it’s true for others as well!  Even better, it’s great to see people who are actually still managing to lose weight weekly, as it’s a great motivator.

So here are my weight stats:

Beginning weight (June 06): 270 lbs

Current weight (May 08): 155 lbs

Total Lost: 115 lbs

Goal: 135 lbs

20 pounds to lose by August 23 (vacation start date)!

Strategy to get it done: A much more aggressive workout schedule (every other day, or so), and a return to my more restrictive (very balanced and very healthy) eating patterns.  Also, I like the visualization/mantra techniques others have mentioned.  I will try to deter cravings for the baked goods in the office by imagining myself on the beach this August (actually in a swim suit, not a t-shirt and shorts set!) on my upcoming vacation with my wonderful boyfriend.  For once, I'll enjoy the beach!  And I like the mantra I've seen used -- "No food tastes as good as being my goal weight [thin and sexy] feels."

Good luck everyone!

Weighing in today: 157 down 2 from last week (total 95).

marcimather- wow what a weight loss. Excellent job. YOu can make it the last 20.

Goal Weight : 115

Pounds left to lose : 16

My weight stayed the same... :(

Thursday, 05/22/08 Weigh-in:

Current Weight: 149 lbs.

Pounds Lost: Down 2 from last week & 46 total!

Pounds Left: 19 to go!

Edit: I haven't been in the 140's since junior high..thats like 6 years ago!

Hooray SammyKay!!!!

My Weigh In: (Remember, it's TTOTM for me)

Lost: 1 pound exactly (and that's WITH water weight gain)

Left: 15.9 pounds to my long term goal, 2.9 pounds to my short term goal when I'll finally be in the normal BMI range for my age and height!!!!!

Last night I put on this dress that I've had hanging in my closet.  It's a Banana Republic dress from 2002 that I love but haven't been small enough to wear since then.  It's a size 8.  I've been trying it on here and there over the past 6 months to see if I could get it to close.  Last night I put it on, and it zipped up!!!  It's still a little tight, but I just can't even believe it fit!!!  My grandmother's big 80th birthday bash is in July... a brunch at this ritzy place on the beach, and my entire family will be there, many of which I haven't seen in years. My goal is to wear that dress and have it fit perfectly!!!  I still can't believe I'm this size again, and I can't wait to get to my goal!  Talk about motivation!!!!!!  Plus with all the working out I've been doing, I've NEVER been in this kind of shape even when I was skinny.   Hooray!

Keep up the good work everyone!!!

Lauren

It feels so good to be able to try on old clothes and have them finally fit.  A few days ago, I tried on my prom dress which is from 1994 and I could actually get into it and zip it up.  That's a darn good feeling right there.

I've only posted once to this thread, but I figured it's time to get on board for real.  Today I weighed in at 145 lbs which is 1 pound down from last week.  I think I have about 10 more pounds to go, but with Memorial Day weekend BBQ coming up, I'm just aiming for maintaining for the next week.

I'm currently 144 :D

By June 9th my goal is to be 140, and so help me I will accomplish it!!!

GOOD JOB LADIES, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK :-)

147.0

I am down 4 pounds since last Thursday. I am not that surprised as I went to the gym 6 times since last weigh in, played some DDR and counted every single calorie. I am giving my hardest effort at this point to hopefully not hit any bumps in the road during the home stretch.

I am looking for 144 next Thursday

Good luck everyone :)

weighing in: 154, down 3 from last week (down total 98 pounds). Hopefully next week I can hit that 100 mark. Good Luck everyone.

Thursday Weigh In!!!

I finally hit my short term goal this week of 173 pounds!  That's a 2 pound loss from last week.  I now officially have a NORMAL BMI!  HOORAY!

Not too far to go to reach my goal!!!!!

Congrats Tammy on nearing your 100 pound loss mark!  That deserves some celebrating!!!!
