Argh, chocoholic surrounded by chocolate!
Bought some chocolate eggs and rabbits for easter- nephew in da house- and now Im sitting on my couch starring at a 200 g choco egg bag! Ive just had dinner and I want some chocolate sooo badly! Problem is once I start I can't stop.
Ive been on a diet for three weeks and I don't want to ruin it! Could somebody tell me to get a grip within the next 20 minutes otherwise I'll open the bag and......
19.59.,19.56....
There's only one person that can really stop you from eating the chocolate... and that person is you. As much as people will ask you 'is it really worth it' it's only text on a page... But here goes.
You've done so wellf or three weeks though, would you really want to ruin your hard work? Put the bag somewhere out of sight, go do something that can distract you. Take a power-walk around the block, do somethign artistic... Somethign to keep your hands and mind occupied.
Now on this 'diet', do you allow yourself the occasional treat? If you -really- want the chocolate (and not because it's there) why not factor some into your daily calorie goal? That way you get your fix and wont feel guilty (especially when the scale keeps moving down) xD
Don't have an artistic bone in my body unless you count the art of talking :-)
Thanks for replying- you were within the time limit and now Im putting that bag under my bed.
Cheers!
Artistry is more about expressing yourself... I don't see a reason why talking can't be XD
Glad I could help!
I forget who on this site said it... but I like the saying
"Nothing tastes as good as thin feels."
You could budget the chocolate in with your daily calories and just have a tiny bit if you think you can do that without eating the whole bag :)
One thing I do is keep those Ghirardelli dark chocolate squares around that way when I have a craving I can satisfy it in about 40 calories or so.
bdasko - I'm with you - I find that having a small amount of good chocolate (even semi sweet chocolate bits do the trick) fulfills the craving, and there is always room in my calorie budget for 15 chocolate bits.
But you gotta take them out of the bag and put the bag away before you start eating. It's definitely a personal thing - some people (and there have been days when I've done this too) will just keep going back to the bag no matter what.
And to those who say "nothing tastes as good as thin feels" I always will reply:
You clearly have not tried my mom's chocolate pie.
Don't just think of the possible hard time that the chocolate might give you in the bathroom, an entire bag will probably tear you up on the toilet...
Sorry to be gross, but I figured if you start thinking about the bathroom and all that nasty stuff that comes out of you and into the toilet, then maybe you might loose your appetite....
Oh good Golly- where the hell were you guys earlier...it must be coming up on TTOM- my son is selling boy scout chocolate bars- a whole CASE of king size Hershey almond bars sitting on the kitchen table for the past 2 weeks! i have been doing soooooooooooooo good. Today, i went for the motherload. I ate a whole one (600 calories) -if that was not bad enough, i decided peanut butter would go nicely with it- 3 Tbsp (or so)- so i am thinking 1000 calories. And, this is the best part, it was only 9 in the moring ( i work nights)- so much for eating for the next 24 hrs. I just took an ambien and passed out for 10 hrs. Oh, if i don't get a day shift soon, i may be 400 lbs. Oh, and i get adult acne too, so that is gonna be a b*tch the next week too>
i want my mommy! waaaaaaaah

Oh I agree... one way I solve the "going back to the bag" is just by eating the chocolate in a different place. THe main place I do it is in the bathtub... so I grab one square, take it with me and in my book (I like to have a relaxing bath before bed most days) and then I have it... it's REALLY inconvenient to get up out of the bath to go get more, so that helps.
Maybe just making it more of a ritual thing has helped. I actually eat a lot less chocolate these days since I started just keeping the good, pricier stuff around. Mainly in just because I'm practical to a fault and I think mentally (all calorie thoughts aside) it's a lot easier to rationalize eating a $.50 hershey bar in one sitting than it would be to eat the $5 bar of imported dark chocolate.
