argh, friends...
alright, so... i've lost about 75lbs in the past two years or so. i did it the healthy way. i started eating better and excercising and all that jazz.
a few of my friends have really been annoying me lately. if i pass up ice cream or cake or something, they start saying i never eat and i starve myself, blah blah blah. i get eye rolls when i check the calories of something. whenever someone asks me how i lost weight, my friends tell them that i'm anorexic/bulimic.
it's just... it's really discouraging. i'm tired of people getting annoyed with me just because i decided to take care of my body and not fill it with a bunch of crap. i'm tired of hearing about how "i never eat" and how "i'm way too skinny".
i eat all the dang time and my doctor told me that my BMI is right where it needs to be... so HA.
anyone else feel like ranting?
No need to. Those of us who choose to make healthy decisions inherit the earth, more or less literally. :]
I hate to say it, but I definitely use to be one of those people who got ticked off any time I would eat something and my underweight friend would pick up the package and tell me about the calories.
Luckily, I've completely turned that all around and now I'm the one annoying people about calorie content lol
In my opinion, maybe they're covering for guilt about their unhealthy lifestyles just like I did.
It's too bad they aren't being more supportive. Maybe they're a little jealous??
Just telling them sarcastically that you're allergic to sugar or the cake is not good enough for you and that you only prefer (pick a name of a stupidly expensive cake)
;-) Stupid remarks deserve stupid responses. After a few sarcastic responses from you, I think the discouraging comments will start to dimminish.
Best of luck to you.
i get that from my mother and her husband, it annoys the crap out of me. of course they're both overweight and im sure my mom feels some guilt about being overweight which makes me sad. whenever i bring up calories she gets all defensive and grouchy, my attempts to help her are futile. she says things like "i dont have much time left i may as well enjoy it" or "tell me when your done playing this game and we'll go shopping" in reference to me.
I understad where you're coming from. I've had people around me all the time not be supportive. Luckily for me, those friendships didn't last and now I have the right people that ARE supportive.
Just brush them haters off, because you'll live a longer, healthier life. They might come running back to you and asking you for help.
i think i'll try the sarcastic comment thing. ;)
