ha i wouldn't stress about it enjoy it's only once a year Laughing

I understand your frustration.  Our party is Wednesday morning and I am in charge of the sign up sheet for what people are bringing such as: barbeque, buffalo chicken dip, black bottom cupcakes, baked mac & cheese, pasta salad, dip and crackers, chips, wings, potato salad, cheesecake, apple pie, roast pork, shrimp, beer, soda, jerk chicken, etc.

Yay, fun.  =P

^Can I come? ahaha I think we're only doing a lunch meat tray and pasta sides. The normal stuff. I dont know about desserts though.

Ugh I know! I work on a large college campus and I've been to 3 holiday parties already. The first 1 I was totally good. I stuck to the veggie tray like glue. The 2nd one I had some shrimp coctail and wine. The 3rd I had 3, count em, 3 brownies! Surprisingly I only gained 1 lb. Soon the holiday season will be over and I'll have a week and a half off to hit the gym hard.

Gem, sure come on over!!!  It's mostly males too.  =)

My daughter will be here so that keeps me away from the beer but I think I just might have to TRY the stuff I don't normally have like the jerk chicken and the baked mac & cheese.  Just a tiny bit.  Other than that, I will eat some shrimp, drink LOADS of water and just socialize.  It shouldn't be too bad.  Now...its a different story when you live with a man who LOVES to cook and bake and it there ALL the time.  That's what problem I face.

Ugh....my office is currently partaking in a loud and delicious-looking cookie exchange in our communal kitchen.  Sigh.

I have been to a few parties, at least I keep my propel water in hand. Even though I eat too much cheese and cookies.

My biggest problem is I am an educator (adjunct) and a child care giver. I get lots of baked goods as a holiday gift. The bucket of home made gooey brownies, sugar cookies, gingerbread cookies, and macroons, I couldve ate the whole bucket. I only had like 5 over several days but mmmm good. Plus I am baking for people too, reindeer poo, pumpking bread, and ooey gooey butter cake. I have to try it before I serve it right?

My only GOAL this month is to NOT gain, I will work on losing in Jan. So far I am holding steady- this week will be tough!!!

Food is good.  Parties are good.  Food goes with parties.  It's all good.

I make the best baked pepperjack mac and cheese. mmmm. and jerk chicken is freaking awsome. Im so there where do you work. ahaha j.k Yea my GM is dieting so we're having an easy lunch. blah.

keep a big glass of water in your hand... and carry around a plate of something you dont like.  I carry a plate of white frosted cake around and set it down to talk, and pick it back up again, or leave it somewhere.

As for getting food as gifts:

REGIFT!!!

Re-Gifting is the best way to get those holiday treats OUT of your house.  I got a big tray of peanut brittle from a co-worker, I put out a plate on my desk and offered it to passers-by.  Or take them to a seniors centre, they love home baked goods, or to a school, or sport group of some sport. Bring them to work, if they are from home. Bring them to church, or to the doctor's office.  Bring them to other holiday parties and share them with others.

I don't think one day out of the year is going to kill you. Even if you go to more then one party limit yourself to one treat and fit it into your day. I will admit though, the gifting of baked goods is a tough one and you don't want to be rude and be like "Oh that's nice..but I'm dieting." Haha. Re gifting to me has always seemed rude..but hey, isn't that the inside joke with the infamous fruitcake? :P If it works though then by all means. It's better though if you have a family with you who enjoys sweets. Just hand it out to them. Have friends over and lay it out for them to munch on..Not necessarily "re gifting" but it gets rid of it. :P
