Someone who's "real nice" decided to put oh Henry peanut butter bars and a HUGE box of Tim Horton's cookies in our lunchroom at work.

I've already had two pieces of ginger bread (Lebkuchen) and a yummy apple to be devoured for an afternoon snack.

But jeeeez why can't people drop off a platter of veggies with yogurt dip!

Oh well tis the ultimate challenge for me today to stay away from the stuff because:

a) no idea how heavy those cookies are and that means I can't log them properly

b) they are not good for me and I'll bust my calories for today if I had one that's for sure.

Anyone have similar "nice" people in the office or clients/suppliers swinging by?  ]

EDIT: It's 3pm and the cookies are all gone!!!! And I had none!!!

Oh, yeah, regularly!

One of our part time guys brings stuff from the bakery daily!

And the school kids are selling stuff for fund raisers, so the parents bring them to work to sell for them....most often, candy bars! UGH!!

And then there are the vendors....the ones who bring mega lunches once a month...pizza, wings, etc!! Yikes, sometimes they bring enough to feed the crew for 2-3 days!!

So I just try my best to stay in my little cubby hole of an office. Not very sociable, but......

Oh yes, especially this time of year it gets really bad.  I just avert my eyes when I go in the break room, or don't go at all.  Birthday parties are hell on wheels also.

P.S. Sabine, back away from the cookies, you can do it!

I ain't having any of those cookies trust me. The only reason I have to walk past them is to get my water, can't do without that.

I hope they're all gone when I go back in there to get my dinner for tonight before going to school from work.
I thought that Halloween was bad with a huge bowl full of candy on my kitchen counter for days but this morning I come into work and there is a huge bowl of leftover Halloween candy sitting on the front counter directly in front of me!  One of those same 'nice people' brought it in.

I resisted the urge all day long but broke down about a half hour ago and had two fun size snickers bars.  Now I'll have to take an extra long walk tonight in the freezing cold and cut down on my dinner - when does it get easier?!
Tell me about it! Its 10am here and morning tea has just come out.

3 peoples bitrthdays so there are chocolate muffins, caramel slices, brownies, home made chocolate chip cookies, cheesecake and apple cram pie...... Oh and a huge bowl of hersheys kisses and marshmallows!!!

Fortunately one of the girls did a fruit platter too so i managed to avoid the food and eat some grapes and strawberrys! back at my desk now and not entering the lunchroom again today.....
All the time!

Yesterday we had a mandatory meeting where there were pastries of all sorts provided.  Last Friday we had a meeting, again with pastries, and also with lunch that included onion rings and deep fried apple crisp bites and deep fried brownie bites.  We also have an ice cream cooler here with free novelties that is always stocked.  I have learned to ignore those things.  But, it's very difficult.  I make sure and bring my healthy snacks so that I'm not famished and tempted.
Yup. Nearly every other day here too, there's something yummy sitting in the break room. I will usually allow myself to have one piece, if it's something I really want - that's better than resisting and then going out and buying myself a whole chocolate cake. ;-)

Today, for example, there are these weird pastry things. Luckily, I don't like pastries, so I could ignore them.

The free coffee and the cream I put it in also becomes a problem when I drink it a lot. Sometimes there's milk, which is much better, but when there's no alternative I try to use as little as possible of the half and half. I really need to keep bringing in my own stuff.
oh my god! lebkuchen is amazing! i had them in germany last year and they were so good. ah, now i want one. =)
Allllll the time. Right now, we have a huge bag full of peanut butter brittle sitting on our "snack" table, alongside a bag of cookies, Oreo WaferStix, and a mini Hershey bar. Oh and a bowl full of mini chocolates and candies.
Ha suddenly I don't feel so bad about the one box of cookies which thanks to about 44 colleagues here at the office is pretty much down to crumbles.

shoeofkuribo - I LOVE pastries! Before starting on cc that puff pastry was my big binge food.

subwaybusker - I know Lebkuchen kicks butt, they had those little ones at Urban Fair and I just couldn't resist and bought a pack, I'm Swiss and 1/4 German so I love the sweets from that corner of the world....come to think of it how am I going to handle my mom's xmas cookies this December..... :-/
I work at a retirement home and they make really yummy food. One of the desserts I love are O Henry bars! It's sooo hard to avoid them. Especially when we serve them at lunch and there's still some left over around dinner time. Oh and then in the mornings I have to bake cinnamon rolls, strudels, donuts and other good stuff. It's so hard to resist Frown And sometimes I don't.
Earlier this week the bosses bought pizza for everyone and nagged me until I took a piece (they were so proud of themselves for being nice, lol).  I didn't really want it, and had my lunch that I had brought in already, and all I could think about was "well that's a waste of 300+ calories" but I just readjusted the rest of my day and I survived it.  There was also that thought in the back of my mind of my previous life where I would have at least 4 pieces in one sitting...and then I did the math Surprised lol.
I'm fairly safe most of the time as where I work just isn't all that social. A couple of times a year the one prof's mother sends her a bunch of chocolate from Hershey PA and she puts it out since her family doesn't like chocolate (go figure!) The other danger point is that the mini-Starbucks down the hall puts out cookies that haven't been sold every now and then. They are great and I've given up on even TRYING to just have one: I avoid them like the plague! (I guess that would be that plague that makes your butt swell up like a tractor tire!)

today in fitness class it was our teacher's last day because she's going on maternity leave so everyone brought in cookies, cake, cupcakes, doughnuts and everything else and i didn't have one bite!

and then out fitness teacher was so touched she went out and bought us all milkshakes, and i didn't have one either. :) i felt SO good saying no.

and then after dinner i ate 5 mini coffee crisp bars and marshmallows? ...that made no sense.

It's the devil whispering sweet nothings in your ear..............tell him to get lost! LOL

Ya, today my co-worker brought in chocolate turtle candies. It was really nice of him to do that...but they are literally sitting right next to me (the table next to my cube is always the place to put communal food - ugh).

It was really hard this morning before I ate lunch because I was getting hungry. However, they are still sitting next to me and I haven't touched one. Woot!

I would be a very put off by a "fitness" instructor who allowed and encouraged all that stuff!!

Yep, the "devil", aka my food addicition. Talks to me all the time. But I'm learning that it's just talk, it won't kill me if I ignore it!

I've learned there are some things I simply can't have just one of, so I make the choice to not take that first bite! I get the "willpower" do to this by reading and writing with all of you here on CC!!

Yep I have that kinda devil whispering in my ear too, sometimes I'll be at the store, my brain telling me if you buy that and start having it at home you won't be able to stop and that's that. The thought kinda continues to you shouldn't buy it at all!!!

But by that time I've passed the cashiers and am on my merry way home.

jupufo - well done on ignoring the chocolate turtles :)

Maybe that "fitness" teacher was having cravings of her own because she is preggers and didn't want to insdulge on her own?

Ha great reaction :) And well done on  resisting the treat.
