First, start with how many pounds you need to lose.  Look at that number. focus on that number. Then work out a game plan. Figure out how many cals you need to eat to lose your weight. Use the tools this site offers, they're a great help to me.

Then just do it. When you get the urge to postpone working out, ask yourself this: "If not now, when???".  That usually works for me.

Good luck! :)

I would say try to remember that you're doing this for you.  Maintaining your weight is better than gaining weight.  And gain or lose, you're still you.  Are you a different person if you gain 5lbs?  No.  Keep in mind that this is for improvement of your health, not a number on a scale.

1.  Don't beat yourself up;
2.  Take your goals in small pieces - focus on today; and,
3.  Remember that you are whole and complete just as you are.  Anything you do on top of that is just gravy (well not really because gravy has no nutritional value, but you get what I'm saying Laughing).

thanks so much cjeka and geminisun, you both put the whole thing into perspective and I feel so much more motivated and willing to get my healthy regime back in place! You both really helped me!
