i can't believe i'm asking this but it was a last resort and i counld not find any answers to it online. After i've gained a lot of weight, whenever i sweat from my armpits it smells, i've never experienced this before. the odor is distinct too, like onions, why is that. and no i don't eat onions. i'm not looking for a solution so don't tell me insensitive info like take a shower, use more antiperspirant, etc.

fresh sweat isn't supposed to smell; it's the bacteria that grows in sweat that's stinky.  it might be an indicator of a health problem.  i think you should ask your doctor about it.

I agree you should ask a doctor.

After I lost a lot of weight, I started sweating a lot less and it seems like its almost odourless- so it could be the weight.

Excessive smell is caused by too much bacteria, as stated above.

BUT, if it turns out to not be a health problem (still check with your doctor first) I've found that Secret Clinical helps A LOT.

if you want drastic.... a doctor can talk to you about botox in your armpits- it stop the sweat glands from producing sweat......but that dosnt sound like a good idea for heat regulation.... i guess do some research if you are interested...

The smell you describe could be sulphur.  That's found in a lot of vegetables (not just onions or garlic) and also on dried fruits.   Or your diet could be too high in protein.  The bacteria that results in body odour finds it easier to break down proteins.   Sometimes rad ical changes in the smell of body-odour can indicate that you have certain medical conditions.  The NHS website suggests consulting your doctor if you experience the following....

  • You notice a change in your body odour; a fruity smell could indicate diabetes, while a bleach-like smell could be caused by liver, or kidney, disease.
  • I found that I have had problems after I lost 60 lbs and began to exercise daily.  It kinda became toxic and I had a terrible rash with scabs as well.....I hate doctors so I called my mom!  I put vaseline on the sore spots and they healed finally after a month of agony and baby pwder after a bath....Lever 2000 to wash with and Almay antiperspirant!  I was going to the doctor though if that would not have helped!  You really do need to see a doctor though!

I went to a Dermatologist due to exceive sweating and before you try  Botox  like others have suggested there is another treatment called Drisol, ask your Dr about it, it helped me with excessive sweating. It is like a deoderant but is prescription an has worked for me. Botox is not covered by insurance but Drisol is.

i guess i'll try to lose the weight.  so i guess the theory is the weight you are the more likely you have bacteria that'll cause you to smell really bad.

    Hey,

I had a similar problem. After a bit of googling I came to the conclusion that the problem was bacterial. Grim I know. But the bacteria were living in my polyester clothes and even washing didn't get rid of them. I would put on a clean sweater and within 20 mins it would smell.

Anyway. I discovered that yuo can buy HibiScrub from chemists. It is used in hospitals as a hand wash, and the active incrediant in it kills armpit stink. Soak your clothes in it, slightly diluted, and then wash them normally. I promise 100% this really works!

I weigh a significant amount more than you and I wouldn't say that is necessarily the issue. Go see a doctor.

I sweat a lot!  I found secret clinical strenght works wonders.  I would def. recommend trying that first.  Also ( I know you did not want sarcastic remarks like take a shower and I do not mean this derogatory at all), using an anti-bacterial body wash could help as well, making sure to scub your pits good. :)
