any Army wives out there?

Quote  |  Reply

I'm 26 years old and married to a soldier (we're both from the UK). He has been in the forces for over 10 years and we've been married for 5 years. We were childhood sweethearts (known him since I was 13 years old). Its an odd lifestyle, some times he's home for a month, sometimes he's on the otherside of the world for months on end.

We live in Armed Force accomodation at the minute, but its very cliquey.  (I have a full time job and this makes it harder to make friends as they go to parents groups/ coffee morning whilst i'm at work). i'd love to talk to some more people that understand the kinds strange set up you have when married to a Squaddie.

Are there any forces wives out there, from any country, that would like to say Hi? Laughing

My guy is retired US Army and I am an Army brat so I know a little about what you are going through. I know that living on base helps but it is interesting that a lot of military wives are stay at home moms especially since the military pays so little.

I'm a fairly new Army Wife. He's been in for a year, and is already getting ready to leave. Off to Afgan, and I'm not allowed to go. There isn't a place that the Army has safe enough to send us over, and I worry every day his date gets closer..

I"m an army wife.  My husbands been in the army for 3 years now.  We're stationed in Ft. Bragg Nc

I could never be an army wife.  I'd never be strong enough, and knowing my life and my luck I'd get cheated on.

safety suit- is this the first time he's been over there? My husband ahs done both iraq and afghan so i know how you feel. One thing i did which made my husband really happy and therefore me feel a lot better was to sed a letter to address in afghan either before he goes or on the same day. the letter will there waiting for him when he arrives. in  a scary new place its really nice to be reminded that you are there for him.

I don't know if you are american or british, but where my husband was based they had internet access. we both bought a webcam and would chat once a week and it was fantastic to see him as well as speak to him.

i guess it depends what he does in the army, as some jobs are more dangerous than othes, but i'm sure he and his guys will look out foreach other. always here if you want to talk, i know how hard it can be xx

my roomie/bff's an army wife.. he's actually home for his R&R from Afghan. i grew up next to fort dix, so i know how it is. his home base is fort bragg too... i just wanna get those boys out of there already.. i cant handle another deployment for a friend
