I'm trying to be careful to eat a healthy diet. I've cut out a lot of junk foods and am eating more fruits and vegetables. What else can I do to minimize weight gain after I quit smoking?

Exercise is a great way to combat weight gain and it will help to improve your metabolism as well. Muscle burns more calories than fat, so the more you exercise and build muscle mass, the more calories you'll be able to consume without gaining weight. Not only will exercising help with weight gain, it's a great way to calm frazzled nerves and destress. Aim for at least a half hour of exercise a day to start if you haven't been active, and build up from there. You can break it up into two 15 minute workouts, or even three 10 minute spans if you have trouble getting a half hour uninterrupted.Get in the habit of moving!
