How do I deal with a friend who doesn't acknowledge my weight loss?

I've dropped 25 pounds over the past year, and it's been hard, but I see a huge difference in myself. My best friend, who is the size I was, has not complimented me or even commented at all. I know it shouldn't bother me but it does. What should I do?
Answer
Your friend might envy your achievements, be ashamed of her own failures, be sad about losing her old eating buddy, or fear that you'll leave her behind. You can try to talk about it if you are very close and mature, but expect to do more listening and empathizing because she's probably bothered about it even more than you are. Perhaps you can forgive her if you try to see it from her point of view, even if you don’t think she's rational or fair. Congratulations on your weight loss and a job well done!
