I exercise everyday for 2 hours. Is that too much?
Asked by anonymous on Jun 24, 2008 in Weight Loss

I am a 16 year old female. I am 5'4" inches and I weigh 163 lbs.  Ever since I joined Calorie count, I have been consuming around 1400 calories. I also exercise everyday for 2 hours. Sometimes I do dancing, bike riding or walking. For example, today I walked for 1 hr and rode my bike for 1 hr. For some reason, despite being careful with my calorie intake and exercising 14 hrs a week, I have seen no change in my weight. Why is that? Is exercising for 2hrs everyday too much?

Answer

Walking and riding a bicycle for two hours a day is not too much exercise as long as you eat enough to cover your calorie requirements. Under-eating and incorrect timing of meals can make you fail to lose weight. You personally need to eat 1650 calories a day for weight loss.  Eat a meal or sizable snack within 30 minutes of completing your exercise.  The meal should provide 1/4 -1/3 of your daily calorie allowance.  It should contain carbohydrate, protein, and healthy fat.  Read about what to eat before and after exercise from the Guide to Exercise at About.com.
