Isn't 2500 calories a day too much for maintenance?

I'm 18. During my exams, I gained 10 kg in the last 2 months. I'm 70 kg now and I need to shed it in 3 months. I'm sticking to a 1000 calorie diet and I fast once a week. I also exercise. When I reach 60 kg to maintain, the calorie counter says that I should eat 2500 calories. Losing weight is not a problems for me. I have done it before, but don't you think 2500 calories is too much?
Answer
You need 2000 calories a day to maintain 60 kg at a light activity level, which is appropriate for a student who exercises. Presently, your 1000 calorie diet is too restrictive and that can lead to binging. Use the Calorie Target calculator in the Tools section to find your calorie requirements for weight loss, and leave the goal date blank to let the system set a realistic rate for you. For the future, explore ways, besides eating, to dissipate the tension of taking exams because exams are no excuse for gaining 10 kg (22 lbs) in two months.

So you can log your weight -- which allows you to do the following:
- Plot your weight curve
- Analyze the trend of your weight (see under Recent in the figure above)
- Determine the projected target date (see under Overall in the figure above)
