I've lost 35 pounds. How do I maintain?
Asked by drstone2 on May 13, 2008 in Weight Maintenance

I started losing from 200 lbs and now I'm down to 165 lbs. What should I do to maintain this weight?

Answer

Follow a balanced diet at your new calorie level. Use the Calorie Target calculator in the Tools section to find your requirements at 165 lbs. Enter your present weight as your goal weight and set your goal date as today. Log your foods until you feel confident to go it alone. Read about the habits of successful losers from the National Weight Control Registry. They generally eat a low fat diet, have breakfast and are active for 60 minutes a day. Realize that backsliding often occurs during times of change, like moving or starting a new job, and so be prepared.
