Am I losing weight to fast?
Asked by anonymous on Jun 10, 2008 in Weight Loss

I have lost 30 pounds in a month. I am not starving myself. I eat regularly but I limit myself to 2000- 2500 calories a day.  I only work out by running and aerobic exercises averaging about an hour everyday.  So, am I losing the weight too fast and I feel great  but I am just worried.

Answer

You are losing weight too fast; success is about 8 pounds a month – but it will slow down soon. Initially, you lost water weight, but that won’t happen again. Still, you need to take a break from losing and aim to maintain your new weight for several months.  During that time, replenish the muscle you lost while rapidly losing. Begin a strength-training program in place of some of your aerobics, and try to eat 2500 calories a day in a balanced diet.  Weigh yourself once a day and add it to the tracker; examine your weight trend at the end of the month and adjust your calories as needed.  For an accurate calorie count, be careful about how you log your food.
