Is calorie shifting a Do or a Don't?

I started calorie shifting and I am now on Day 8. I think I have only lost water weight. What should I be expecting in weight loss by this time? I am following the Weight Loss 4 Idiots Diet. I liked the way it all sounded, and I bought into it. I may just be jumping the gun a bit also. Is too soon in the game to be second guessing myself?
Answer
Calorie shifting is a meal planning strategy designed to prevent the metabolic adaptation behind weight lost plateaus. Supposedly, four full meals a day, each with a different calorie value, along with 10 glasses of water will “shock” the body into continually burning calories without downshifting. The problem is that calorie shifting has not been proven to work, and so it remains a gimmick that draws your attention away from making the lifestyle changes needed to produce permanent weight loss. I'd prefer to see you focus on keeping careful food records and exercising to stay within your calorie requirements for weight loss.
