Make sure it doesn't happen frequently.  Its not a huge deal if you go below what you should very infrequently, its when it becomes a habit that it starts to cause serious harm.  Its still not good for you when it happens once in a while, but its nothing to freak out about.  Plan things out more carefully in the future if you are worried about it happening again.

I had 880 cals today, it just happens sometimes.

Stop being anorexic? I've seen your posts before, you have a problem. Seek help.

What do you think the best answer is?  It really does seem like you've been around to know for yourself.

You REALLY need to think before you open your mouth (or type... whatever). "Stop being anorexic"? It's a disease/disorder, like alcoholism or OCD. You can't just "stop" being something. That was totally insensitive to say, to someone suffering from an ED or not.

Agreed. It is a disease that effects the brain's thought process about food...almost an addiction to treating yourself poorly. Most people don't even know it.

900 is low for sure, but if it was just bc you were so busy, don't stress. You'll be hungier today anyways and probably eat more to balance it out anyways.

What you don't do  is the same again tomorrow.  And you can make it more likely that it's a better day if you think about it now before you go to bed.  Think about what you're going to have for your breakfast... and lunch.... and supper to get you to your calorie target for the day.  If you don't have the foods around you get up a little earlier than normal and go shopping.

Once in a while it's OK to undereat but not on a regular basis.  Haphazard grazing and food 'to-go' is a fast-track to poor health.  Plan ahead a lot better so that you're getting a good balance and sufficient to eat.

Have a plan B for busy days that includes portable foods you can keep in your purse, car, or carry a small cooler.  Protein bars can be super high calorie for relatively little volume. Some of the ones I eat have over 330+ calories and are the size of a large snickers bar!  I sometimes do protein shakes at night if I'm under on calories - can add fruit, flax, yogurt, some people like oats with it. I can turn an apple and peanut butter into a 600 calorie meal fairly easily! ;)

If you're like me your body will make up for the missed calories the next day. I often find I'm hungrier than usual if I've gone low cal the day before. In fact its one of the things that leads me to "binging"- so I've learned to plan ahead.

btw, i sorta had a similar problem today

i went to the dentist first thing in the morning, didn't get to eat before i went

afterwards i couldn't feel my mouth i had awful dentist tastes in my mouth and just did not feel like eating and fell right to sleep. When I woke up in the late afternoon, I was dying from hunger! so i quickly hit up a drive through, and ate about 1000 calories in 15 minutes.

then later had a glass of milk  and a pb&j and a vegetable juice

hopefully tomorrow i'll get back to normal

I hate the after-dentist feeling. My mouth does feel minty clean and fresh, but it also feels gritty because they never rinse it out good enough, and it's sore because of all the poking and ungentle flossing they do. UGH. On top of that, my gums always itch like HELL when I come out. So about 1-2 hours after my appointment I eat something hard and crunchy. hahaha And I never brush that night or the morning after because they're still tender. I just swig mouthwash.

So you had about 1600-1700 calories today.  What's the problem?

umm.. maybe because from 9pm the night before to 5pm the next day i ate nothing, and then ate most of my calories in 15 minutes??

people on this site are too obsessed with the number of cals you eat in a set 24 hour period.  If you eat 900 one day, 1700 the next, whatever.  It's what your body felt / wanted at the time.  I agree that the dentist thing was a fluke and eating it in 15 min was probably bad.  Not in any long term way, but I bet it made you feel ill.

In the same way that undereating for 1-2 days, or even trying something silly like master cleanse will not hurt you much in the long run, neither will 1 episode of junk food.  In the timespan of your life, these things are insignificant.  Just like ignorant people on the internet.

ok but some of us actually LIKE to eat calories because we know that our bodies use and need them on a DAILY basis

if that makes us the "ignorant people on the internet" sign me up

Your screen name is thin_girl and you show signs of under eating.

look,

you clearly have had issues with weight. You started at nearly 280 lbs, since then you've made some great progress, but i'm sure there has been many times in your life when people have made insensitve comments about your weight, and probably still do.

I don't see how you can go on a website like this, that is a support system for people dealing with their weight, and make comments like that.

I asked you a few times now, to point out any posts that indicate I have a eating disorder, or an issue with undereating, and you haven't been able to. Because you pulled this information out of the air.

The psychological effects that making comments to people, especially the people on this website, where the majority of them have issues with their weights, are significant. Although, what you said to me was nonesense, and I know that I don't have anything resembling an eating disorder, other than the occasional OVEReating... I've seen women on here putting their bodies through torture to make themselves thin, and your insensitivity is appalling.

YOU of all people should realize that.
