Ate over maintenance

Quote  |  Reply

Hey! I weight currently about 111 pounds depending on the day. That is on the low side, haha! I generally eat anywhere from 1500 to 1800 calories a day. Over this past week I did well, eating from 1780, 1800, 1700, 1757, 1600, 1750, 1800. That was what my week looked like. I ate 1800 today. I am scared I will gain some weight. I feel like I binged, although I dont really think I did. Help anyone? Should I lower my intake to 1600 for two days, or just stay regular rounding off at about 1700?

Relax bro, it's not that serious.

i'm confused...you eat "1500-1800" so why are you freaking out?? that's within your range. relax, you'll be fine. 1800 is what you should be eating daily or else you're likely maintaining too low of a weight for your size. you said 111 is low anyway so maybe it is.

agreed. are you missing a zero or something? cordie is cornfused.

i weight the same as you. yesterday i probably ate around 3000 calories, so yeah. there's some actual damage if it makes you feel better. enjoy being young b/c you CAN go over every so often and it doesn't really affect your weight much as long as you generally have good habits

First of all Sweetheart, how tall are you? That may give some more insight.

Second, this is a very OCDic post if I've ever seen one. :P I see you have a pattern going and because you went over one of your other non 1800 days you are freaking out which there really is no need to be. That is clearly not over maintenance and if it is, it is only by 50-100 calories which is really nothing and will balance out in a few days. I'm guessing (which I could be totally wrong and I apologize to you and those who have suffered from this.) that you have/ or had an ED. Just the post alone and the obsessesive compulsive-ness shows it with how you manage your cals and if you go over and it's not in that number range you feel uneasy. (I should know I'm a past sufferer as well.)

Trust me, if you really only ate 1800 calories you are going to be fine and it won't do any damage. If you see any ounce (;)) or pound on you it won't actually be weight as it takes 3,500 calories over your maintenance to actually see a REAL pound. 1,800 calories obviously is not that. So if anything it will be water retention, sodium, food volume or just that you have to take a massive sh**. :P

You know, you can eat over it in life once in awhile and it will not harm you. We naturally have days where we do more or eat less or more, etc, but as long as you regularly follow a plan (which you are, a little too compulsively.) it will balance out again and you'll be fine. So take a deep breath, relax and tomorrow is a new day. You didn't do any REAL damage.

Sorry if my post is offensive to the OP or any other people here in anyway, just my opinion.

:)

I agree with this. Yes, I know some people on CC don't like other posters making this assumption about people, but sometimes there is a reason for it. 1800 is not a binge amount; in fact it is less than many people need to maintain.

Remember that food is not just about calories; it is about taste and pleasure and socialising and nourishment too. It is there to be enjoyed!
