I ate pizza and think it was a mistake!

I think I'm in trouble. Looked up pizza on CC and it said one slice of cheese pizza is 140 calories (63 grams pizza). That didn't seem too bad and I had 400 calories left for the day. So, I let my son talk me into (wasn't hard) pizza and had 3 slices. A pie from a local pizzeria here in Israel is much smaller then in the US. I figures the calories were OK, since I also saw that Dominoes was between 130 to 180 for a serving of plain cheese pizza.

I have been feeling guilty ever since I ate and started to search for calories of pizza on the web and in forums here. Now I think I over did it and feel terrible. I truly hope I didn't eat something like 600-900 calories and not the 420 I thought I did.

Tomorrow's a new day.

You said it yourself: tomorrow's a new day.

Don't beat yourself up about it. You can't expect yourself to be perfect everyday. And I don't know about your eating habits, but I know that personally, when I over eat and feel bad about it, I typically end up eating even more. Don't sweat it! Just keep on track tomorrow.

Yes everyday is a new beginning, so dont stress too bad. You wont gain from just one day of indulgence. Your son had a good day and enjoyed his dinner with his mother. Thats all that matters :] 3 slices of pizza wont defeat you.

Don't feel guilty! What's done it's done and I bet the pizza tasted really really good! Guilt is one of the things that lead people to just give up on losing weight so avoid feeling guilty at all cost! Tongue out

I love this site! A few minutes after posting there are already 2 replies. It is great to know that I'm not alone.

Thank you

I did the exact same thing tonight-- three pieces of cheese pizza.  What a coincidence.  I came home and looked it up right away, but I was actually surprised it wasn't worse.

It's done and there isn't any way to change it, so there's no point whatsoever beating yourself up about it now... you shouldn't feel guilty about it. Did you make a conscious decision to have the pizza rather than just blindly eating it because it was in front of you? Did you leave some in the box for everyone else? And mostly, did you enjoy your dinner?  There is room in ANY diet for a treat every now and then, and if you sit around second-guessing yourself it's not going to help.

I don't think it's bad to indulge once in a while...and like you said the calories aren't so bad in a cheese slice. And those slices were small.

Hi everyone, I'm new here.  I wish you all the best of luck.  As far as splurging goes.  I try to stick to my calorie goals faithfully 6 days a week.

But on one day, I enjoy the one thing that I have been craving.  Today it was pizza for me too! lol

As long as you don't go crazy and eat a whole pizza, I think it is fine and probably a good thing.  I think it helps me stay with my goals.  I look at it as a reward for a good job done the rest of the week.

First of all, you'll be fine!

Second of all, the calorie count in the domino's pizza on this site is a little misleading because you enter the crust and the toppings separately!  I've done the same thing and didn't notice until many weeks later.  I still lost weight, though!
