ate too much yesterday - what should i do to reverse it?
my boyfriend and i celebrated our one-year anniversary yesterday - with a lot of food.
here's what i usually eat (left column) vs. what i ate yesterday (right column):
calories ~1,200 ~2,500
fat 30g 85g
sat. fat < 5g 13g
protein 80g 94g
carbs 150g 352g
sodium 1,200mg 4,000mg
cholesterol 22mg 27mg
sugar 45g 72g
i usually receive As on the caloriecount grading scale, and yesterday i received a B+. i think the biggest problem was that i ate everything in excess (and i had a little dessert yesterday, too :x)
anyhow, i am insanely BLOATED and i was wondering what i should do.
focus: what is the best plan of action to (try your best to) reverse a gorging day?
hm, sorry the alignment didn't work out in the table i tried to make. i guess caloriecount deletes excessive spaces.
I totally overate yesterday too, not by much, but it's a days delay to my goal.
Anyhoo, think of it as a day of revving up your metabolism. Your body will love you for it :)
Happy anniversary btw!
You can't "reverse" it - what's done is done, there is no time machine.
I don't know your weight and height stats, so I can't estimate what your normal maintenance cals would be, but I think I can safely say that 1,300 over your normal intake won't be devasting. Remember, it takes 3,500 cals over your normal expenditure to gain a pound, and you didn't do that in one day (I don't know how anyone actually could).
IMO, the biggest thing in your meal yesterday was the sodium, which will cause some water retention. Drink lots of water, watch your sodium level, and get a reasonable amount of exercise. DO NOT STARVE YOURSELF. Eat healthy, give your body what it needs, and you'll be fine.
BTW: Don't get obsessive with the CC grading system either - it gives known healthy things bad grades sometimes. Besides, one day of even a C in the midst of all the other days really isn't that big of a deal.
I hope you had fun on your anniversary! It's good to splurge every now and then.
Drink a lot of water and get back to your normal caloric intake. You shouldn't derail too bad as long as it's only one day every now and then.
The b/f just said stick to lower sodium foods for the next day or so.
Good luck!
just go back to normal like it never happened. don't restrict your calories or you'll likely end up overeating. count it as a nice cheat day. you will definitely want to drink alot of water for a few days to flush all that sodium out of your system though.
I agree, don't try to "reverse" it. Just eat and exercise like you normally would. You may want to drink some extra water for the bloating/sodium though.
