any athletes?
about how many calories a day do you eat? just curious.. im usually at about 2200.. i play volleyball and i swim.
Im a gymnast, and on training days I'll eat about 600 extra cals, so I'll be at about 2000-2200. On non training (recovery) days Im at about 1500-1700 cals. I focus more on carbs and proteins rather than calories though.
heya.
i run cross country for my school and used to be a gymnast (so i've got a lot of muscle). on days that i run (6/wk) i eat around 2100. i probably should be eating more though, i'm 5'4" and 117 lbs.
im really confused at how much i should be eating.. because im 5'10" and i really do have a lot of muscle. i dont think im fat, but i wouldn't say im really skinny. i have my activity level set at moderate this tells me i should eat 2500 calories a day and after i plug in my activities it says sometimes that i burn about 3200 calories. but i haven't seen any results. i guess i'd just like to try and lose a little bit of body fat. so like 5 lbs all together maybe a few more... also i dont want to eat too little and mess up my metabolism.
I'm a fencer (mostly Foils and Epee) and I currently eat about 1400-1600 calories a day, but that's mainly because I gained some weight over the summer and now I'm trying to slim down...
But I'd usually eat between 1800-2000 calories a day when not dieting.
softball player. during training and season i eat around 2000-2400. rest of the year im at 1700 - 2000
LOTS of protein in my diet. i also weight lift. not the girly kind either. so my diet usually has a ratio like the one i had today:
Fat - 27.9% (57 grams)
Protein - 40.5% (184 grams)
Carbohydrates - 31.7% (144 grams)
Alcohol - 0.0%
Other - 0.0%
yeah i weight lift almost all year too... and not the girly stuff either haha.. and geeze how do you get so much protein, i have a good amount of protein in almost everything i eat andddd im lucky if i get to 100 grams

Hey Jacquelyn, if you have set your activity level at moderate, then it is taking into account your daily activity. You don't need to plug in your activities. You may be overestimating your calorie needs and that's why you haven't seen any results...
You may find it more accurate by setting your activity level to "Sedentary" and then logging any exercise you do for the day.
I consume a ton of protein in almost every meal. I get it from egg whites, turkey, chicken breasts, peanuts, natural peanut butter, LOW SUGAR protein bars, and whey protein mixed with skim milk. I try to get anywhere from 20-50 grams of protein per meal.
I do competitive cheerleading, and I also run 3x a week and strength train in between. When I'm not dieting I need about about 1800-1900 calories to maintain my weight if I don't exercise that day, and about 2100-2200 if I exercise.
HEY! I am also a very active person/athlete. I am not in a sport right now so I go to the gym around 5-6 days a week. During the winter I play basketball and during the spring I play soccer. Also during the summer I swim and go to the gym. I eat 2800+ calories to maintain my weight...on friday I ate around 2000 and I lost a pound and a half. I really think you all should and could eat more. We athletes need our fuel :]
Fascinating to see what other teen athletes are eating. I'm training six days a week, an average of 16 hours weekly, and school on top of that. I'm consuming 2,500-3,000 a day right now. Heavy weight lifting contributes, I think, the most to my calorie needs. Throw martial arts and boxing onto that, and yeah. You get one hungry chick.
Stats: 5 ft. 7.5 in. 130 Ibs. BF%: 17.5 Female, 17 years.
Don't rely soley upon the calculators... for most induviduals, ESPECIALLY athletes, they can be highly innacurate.
For example, I'm 17 years old, female, and 97 lbs. According to the calculators, I only need 2,000 calories to maintain my current weight (I run Cross Country and am an Irish Dancer, averaging 6 hours of active training weekly). However, I need 2,800 atleast to maintain my weight.
sprinter/ bodybuilding as from recently- eat 2900-3000 calories when doing no exercise, 4000 calories when doing exercise. ps, i have a fast metabolism as i started off skinny, i now weight 85kg, 10% bodyfat. i train 3 times a week 30 mins each time.
Bodybuilder, I eat around 3000 calories on off-days and 3500 on workout days. I am currently 5 ft.9 / 146 Ibs. /17 years old
I'm 5'1", 14 and I run, swim, and lift weights just about every day. I eat 3,000 calories too and can usually maintain on that, although sometimes I need more or less.
I usually get ratios something like this...
- 30-35% protein
- 25% fats
- 40-45% complex carbs
I am also an avid Clean Eater and stick to it ALL THE TIME.
I'm in off season, but when in season in tennis, Coach has the girls eat about 2000 and the guys 2800. But now that we're off for the summer, he's keeping the girls at 1200-1600 and the guys at 2400-2600, depending on height and build. No one cheats, though, because we still see him twice a month. =D

wow, it's people like your coach that help pull the trigger for those predisposed to an eating disorder. in general, 1600 calories is not enough for a teen girl, even if they're sedentary! I hope that you guys are all healthy... those restrictions are frightening to hear...
We are healthy, no worries. Like I said, it's based off height and build. Most of the girls on our team are tinier than a mouse. DX They eat like them too, so... Yeah. I have a 2000 calorie diet in-season, because I'm almost 5' 8" and have a large build.
5'5, 19 and 144 pounds here. I'm a cross country/track runner, I run 7x a week and lift weights on 3 of those days. I eat around 2300 calories to maintain, although I'm currently trying to lose weight so I've been trying to stick to 1500-1800 calories. We're getting new all-spandex uniforms this season... yikes!
I play basketball, I eat breakfast everyday and eat 6 meals a day! I weigh 145 and am 9% body fat. My calories usually range from 2500-3000. And I'm 16 height is 5'10 or so.
