Hello!
I am getting married in the fall of 2008, and I'd like to lose 20 lbs. It will be nice to link up with other brides-to-be and support each other.
I am 154.5 lbs. as of today, so I am challenging myself and anyone else who is interested to lose 20 lbs. by June, 2008.
Anyone with me?

i'm in (if you're still watching this thread!!)
i'm at 149.4 and i'd like to lose at least 25 before the big day (9/20/08). let me know if you're still out there!!
I'm frustrated today. Finals week is in two weeks and I feel like I just dont have the time to work out. ergh.. just one of those days... anyway.. if you haven't been to the wedding channel board to see a little more about me... here its is..
I'm a 24 year old nursing student with 2 years left of school. (I originally went for elementary ed for 3 years, and decided it wasn't for me.) I have been dating my FH for 5 years now... so its about time we tie the knot! I have been fit and physically active my whole life until I left for college. 10 pounds gained turned into 20 and 20 to 40 pounds gained. I know that if I try to loose the whole 40 pounds I will look too thin, so I imagine myself being at a curvy 130 pounds! Sexy another words! haha. (i'm 5'7" by the way.)
well, sadly, I'm getting married in March 2008 (not sad for the wedding LOL) but sad that I'm 60 lbs overweight, and cannot lose that much weight. I gave myself enough time, but cannot get serious. I cannot seem to motivate myself to lose weight for my wedding even though that's the most important day of our lives!!! You'd think that would be motivation enough.... so what is wrong with me? I weight around 170 lbs. EEWW. (i'm only 5'0"). I should weigh 100. This sucks... and with each passing day I get more and more mad at myself that I didn't/haven't lost a bit.

I am getting married on 9/13/08 and am looking for a support group that will get me and keep me motivated. It would be awesome if we brides could keep this thing going!
Congrats to everyone on getting married!!!
yay i'm glad this thread survived! today is my first day back on the bandwagon, after a weekend in vegas for my best friend's bachelorette party. my biggest problem is that i make excuses for myself (going out of town, traveling, etc). but that will be no more!
i really want to lose at least 10 pounds by mid feb, because that's when i plan to buy my dress (i know i can get it altered later).
i was always in really good shape growing up, and was in the best shape i'd been in since high school around feb 06. but, i've gained 30 lb since then! and that's even after running a marathon in june. i took a complete break after the marathon, and lost a lot of muscle. i've been gaining it back since i started working out regularly again in september, but i'm not getting smaller yet, and the scale is not budging! any girls in the same boat?
Then my family got a camper and on the weekends I'd go camping and eat everything under the sun. Living with an Italian mother who thinks everything she makes is "good for you" it's tough to say no.
Needless to say, I gained about 15 pounds back.
I've started using cc again right after Thanksgiving and am hoping this will help to get me through the holidays. I'm going on vacation for Christmas, again with the family, the camper, all that so I really need to stay focused and not give in to temptations!
I also need to start working out big time! I used to love to work out. Did it all the time, now I need to find motivation to start again. Hoping the thought of wearing a wedding dress will kick my butt into gear!! Here's to hoping!
Lisapisa81-- maybe the scale isn't budging yet, because you are regaining your muscle back. I'm sure it will start budging soon!!
That's so great that you were able to run a marathon! I would love to do that some day, but I have a LOT of work to do to get there!
lilness,
it was very rewarding to run a marathon, but alas, i don't think i'll do it again. i've never been a runner, aerobics are more my thing.
have you gone and tried on any gowns yet? i first tried them on over thanksgiving break...even some of the sample sizes (which i'd always heard were in big sizes) were too small so i couldn't really get a good idea of how the dresses looked on me (like the one that wouldn't go over my hips)! that's what really motivated me to start taking this seriously, because i need to buy "the dress" by march or so!!
i'm trying again this weekend at a different shop...maybe they'll have samples that i can actually zip!
Yes, everyone keeps hasseling me to go dress shopping. I'm giving myself until the beginning of the year and then I'll face the music...
lilness, i'm just curious...i see that you live in new york...are you going to kleinfeld to find your gown? that would be so much fun! i live in cali, and you have to buy your dress 6 months in advance at some places, so i need mine by march. that's why i've started shopping already!
you should go at least once, even if you only go with one person. even though i didn't like how any of the dresses looked because of my weight, i was able to see what styles look good on my petite frame (definitely NOT ballgown skirts), and was able to determine which fabrics i like!
that way when i have lost a little more weight and go to buy the final dress, i'll have done my research!
good luck!
Is there room for one more? My wedding day is 10/11/08, and although I don't really have that much weight to lose (5 lbs or so), I'm here on calorie-count to start eating really healthy and working out so I can change the shape of my body-and make sure I don't gain any weight!
How are we going to keep track of everyone and weigh in? Should we organize something to keep everyone motivated?
i lost .8 pounds today! hopefully it won't be back tomorrow!
tomorrow i'm trying on dresses again...that should be motivating enough to get me through the entire weekend.
nycgirl, if you are losing fat and gaining muscle i'd think you could track your progress by your measurements...
I'm all for keeping track of goals. I guess I want to lose weight and fat...So I better get to the gym!!
Have a good weekend girls!!!
i really like the maggie sottero gowns as well. i think i may have found the one today though...its by paloma blanca. the style is #3802. its a sweetheart neckline with ruching (sp?) on the bodice...both flattering for short little people like me! i want to lose at least 10 pounds before i try it on again though, just to know for sure.
good luck with your shopping!
hello -- i see no one is posting, but i would love to get in a group like this!
i am getting married june 13, 2008, and i would like to lose 20 pounds and really tone up. my dress is a halter, so i need great arms and a toned back!
also, i'm getting married on the beach and spending the week before the wedding at the beach with my friends and family, so i'd like to look awesome in all of the candid shots of me in a bathing suit and not just be dodging the camera like i do now!
is anyone still interested in making this a weekly check-in? i'm doing "the biggest loser" with my mom and my best friend, but it would be nice to have some brides to talk to, too.
