Attention 2008 BRIDES!

Quote  |  Reply

Hello!

I am getting married in the fall of 2008, and I'd like to lose 20 lbs.  It will be nice to link up with other brides-to-be and support each other.

I am 154.5 lbs. as of today, so I am challenging myself and anyone else who is interested to lose 20 lbs. by June, 2008.

 Anyone with me?

i'm in (if you're still watching this thread!!)

i'm at 149.4 and i'd like to lose at least 25 before the big day (9/20/08).  let me know if you're still out there!!

Me too. My date is 9/6/08 and although I don't need to lose anymore weight as I spent the past 11 months losing 25-30 lbs what I do need to do is tone up big time. So that's my goal for the next 6-9 months. Let's do it together!! Kiss
Is there room for one more?    I'm getting married June 28,2008.  I would like to loose 30 pounds.  The last time I checked (which was before Thanksgiving) I was 160 pounds.  I have been struggling with loosing this weight for some time now.  I really need the motivation!  Would any of you oppose to chat on the weddingchannel.com "Bridal health and fitness" message board? I will start a chat group there right now. I just feel it will help me more if we keep this group a small group.  I tend to lose touch when 50 people start chatting and it becomes less personal to me.  (the message boards here are unbelievable...I don't know who is who anymore.. (although I do love them when I'm seeking other advice) Anyway, got to "bridal health and fitness" community message boards at weddingchannel.com.  I will call this group "calorie-count brides of 2008"  Hope to see you there! I can't wait to get to know you more... oh, and if you decide that you would want to chat here instead, I'm okay with that... just say what you feel!  Thanks!
Don't leave for another board, stay here with us!! Cool Being a Calorie Count fan, I would really prefer we chat here or keep it to our journals if you want to regulate privacy ... unfortunately by the look of this thread I doubt there will be 50 of us here. Wishful thinking, LOL!
Okay, I'm fine with staying here!

I'm frustrated today.  Finals week is in two weeks and I feel like I just dont have the time to work out.  ergh.. just one of those days...  anyway.. if you haven't been to the wedding channel board to see a little more about me... here its is..

I'm a 24 year old nursing student with 2 years left of school. (I originally went for elementary ed for 3 years, and decided it wasn't for me.) I have been dating my FH for 5 years now... so its about time we tie the knot! I have been fit and physically active my whole life until I left for college. 10 pounds gained turned into 20 and 20 to 40 pounds gained. I know that if I try to loose the whole 40 pounds I will look too thin, so I imagine myself being at a curvy 130 pounds! Sexy another words! haha. (i'm 5'7" by the way.)

well, sadly, I'm getting married in March 2008 (not sad for the wedding LOL) but sad that I'm 60 lbs overweight, and cannot lose that much weight. I gave myself enough time, but cannot get serious. I cannot seem to motivate myself to lose weight for my wedding even though that's the most important day of our lives!!! You'd think that would be motivation enough.... so what is wrong with me? I weight around 170 lbs. EEWW. (i'm only 5'0"). I should weigh 100. This sucks... and with each passing day I get more and more mad at myself that I didn't/haven't lost a bit.

fatanr11--It's never too late to start on the right foot.  You can do it.  You may not lose 60 pounds, but in three months, you can really get yourself on to the right track.  Don't dwell on what you weren't able to accomplish in the past.  Look at today and what you can do today by making healthy choices.  You just have to keep a positive mindset that any healthy change will be a positive thing and it will be something you can be proud / happy about.  Good luck and try not to get discouraged.  YOU CAN DO IT!!!

I am getting married on 9/13/08 and am looking for a support group that will get me and keep me motivated.  It would be awesome if we brides could keep this thing going!

Congrats to everyone on getting married!!!

yay i'm glad this thread survived! today is my first day back on the bandwagon, after a weekend in vegas for my best friend's bachelorette party. my biggest problem is that i make excuses for myself (going out of town, traveling, etc). but that will be no more!

i really want to lose at least 10 pounds by mid feb, because that's when i plan to buy my dress (i know i can get it altered later).

i was always in really good shape growing up, and was in the best shape i'd been in since high school around feb 06. but, i've gained 30 lb since then! and that's even after running a marathon in june. i took a complete break after the marathon, and lost a lot of muscle. i've been gaining it back since i started working out regularly again in september, but i'm not getting smaller yet, and the scale is not budging! any girls in the same boat?

Hey all, I'm in. The date for me is December 13, 2008. I would like to lose 20 lbs by then.
I definitely have a hard time staying on track when I'm not in my normal environment.  I weighed in at 146 in Feb 07' and since March, changed my eating habits tremendously.  I ended up losing 26 pounds, but didn't put any emphasis on working out.

Then my family got a camper and on the weekends I'd go camping and eat everything under the sun.  Living with an Italian mother who thinks everything she makes is "good for you" it's tough to say no.
Needless to say, I gained about 15 pounds back.

I've started using cc again right after Thanksgiving and am hoping this will help to get me through the holidays.  I'm going on vacation for Christmas, again with the family, the camper, all that so I really need to stay focused and not give in to temptations!

I also need to start working out big time!  I used to love to work out.  Did it all the time, now I need to find motivation to start again.  Hoping the thought of wearing a wedding dress will kick my butt into gear!!  Here's to hoping!

Lisapisa81-- maybe the scale isn't budging yet, because you are regaining your muscle back.  I'm sure it will start budging soon!!
That's so great that you were able to run a marathon!  I would love to do that some day, but I have a LOT of work to do to get there!

lilness,

it was very rewarding to run a marathon, but alas, i don't think i'll do it again.  i've never been a runner, aerobics are more my thing.

have you gone and tried on any gowns yet?  i first tried them on over thanksgiving break...even some of the sample sizes (which i'd always heard were in big sizes) were too small so i couldn't really get a good idea of how the dresses looked on me (like the one that wouldn't go over my hips)!  that's what really motivated me to start taking this seriously, because i need to buy "the dress" by march or so!!

i'm trying again this weekend at a different shop...maybe they'll have samples that i can actually zip!

I'm afraid to go dress shopping right now.  I'm not even excited for it until I've lost some pounds.  Maybe that's a good idea though, I'm sure not fitting into them will give me the motivation to get my butt in gear!!

Yes, everyone keeps hasseling me to go dress shopping.  I'm giving myself until the beginning of the year and then I'll face the music...

lilness, i'm just curious...i see that you live in new york...are you going to kleinfeld to find your gown?  that would be so much fun!  i live in cali, and you have to buy your dress 6 months in advance at some places, so i need mine by march.  that's why i've started shopping already!

you should go at least once, even if you only go with one person.  even though i didn't like how any of the dresses looked because of my weight, i was able to see what styles look good on my petite frame (definitely NOT ballgown skirts), and was able to determine which fabrics i like!

that way when i have lost a little more weight and go to buy the final dress, i'll have done my research!

good luck!

Hey guys!

Is there room for one more? My wedding day is 10/11/08, and although I don't really have that much weight to lose (5 lbs or so), I'm here on calorie-count to start eating really healthy and working out so I can change the shape of my body-and make sure I don't gain any weight!

How are we going to keep track of everyone and weigh in? Should we organize something to keep everyone motivated?
Yay! Let's organize something. Maybe we can design our own goals. I only want to lose fat and build muscle so keeping track of pounds won't work so well for me. Any ideas? We need to become the most beautiful brides on earth!!

i lost .8 pounds today!  hopefully it won't be back tomorrow!

tomorrow i'm trying on dresses again...that should be motivating enough to get me through the entire weekend.

nycgirl, if you are losing fat and gaining muscle i'd think you could track your progress by your measurements...

Congrats on losing .8 pounds lisapisa81!  That's fantastic.  Also, good luck dress shopping!  I live in central New York, although my mom wants to go to the city for dress shopping.  I just thought it would be too difficult when the dress comes in.  I've been on the Maggie Sottero web site and found four that I really love.  They are all slim a-lines, which should be good for a short person, but that just means I need to be more slim!  You're probably right though, I guess I'm procrastinating...better get to it!

I'm all for keeping track of goals.  I guess I want to lose weight and fat...So I better get to the gym!!

Have a good weekend girls!!!

i really like the maggie sottero gowns as well.  i think i may have found the one today though...its by paloma blanca.  the style is #3802.  its a sweetheart neckline with ruching (sp?) on the bodice...both flattering for short little people like me!  i want to lose at least 10 pounds before i try it on again though, just to know for sure.

 good luck with your shopping!

hello -- i see no one is posting, but i would love to get in a group like this!

i am getting married june 13, 2008, and i would like to lose 20 pounds and really tone up.  my dress is a halter, so i need great arms and a toned back!

also, i'm getting married on the beach and spending the week before the wedding at the beach with my friends and family, so i'd like to look awesome in all of the candid shots of me in a bathing suit and not just be dodging the camera like i do now!

is anyone still interested in making this a weekly check-in?  i'm doing "the biggest loser" with my mom and my best friend, but it would be nice to have some brides to talk to, too.

i'm still interested!  my wedding is in september...right now i'm trying to lose some weight quickly so that i can buy my dress and actually have a good idea of how its going to look...and i want to take off another 25 pounds by the wedding!
