Attn: Ladies! What do you want for Christmas??

Quote  |  Reply

Christmas is coming up again, and like most years, I'm at a loss as to what to give my wife and mom.

So, ladies....what do you want?

Maybe someone has a suggestion that is just the right thing I'm looking for.

Thanks for your input!

OMG...THAT'S WHAT I WANT TOO yachtracer1977
!!!

I told my mom I wanted the covered pyrex dishes that are on sale at costco.  Other than that, I don't need or want more stuff unless it's dance or martial arts gear and I'm much better off buying those myself.

Although the ladies here all have great suggestions, none of us know your wife and her taste. I'd go shopping with her and see if she starts dropping hints or ask her best friend/sister/mother what she wants. It's kind of like cheating, but you can use the other women in her life to find out exactly what she wants without asking her. If they're sneaky about it your wife will never know.

or you can just straight up ask your wife and your mom what they want. there's nothing wrong with that!

I want argyle socks, and maybe a few new sweaters.

Ooo, I wouldn't mind some new perfume either.

Golf clubs and lessons? (if they'd be interested) I love it, personally!! Also if they already have these, golf balls, golf glove, shoes, tickets for golf at a nice course.

New bike - depends on if they are active???

Excellent suggestion - she has been talking about taking up golf.  Ill have to look into this.  Thanks!

dalma and moogie - yes, I do know what she wants and she has given me a few suggestions.

But I also would like to 'surprise' her with something.  Something she totally doesn't expect.

I wantttt:

A air popper for the microwave

An ironing board

A table for my sewing machine

But in all honesty? I want THE ring, from my man. Pshh wishful thinking there.

For my birthday, my husband bought me 10 sessions with a trainer that was to expensive for just an everyday expense, and then he got me a massage to work out all my sore muscles.  AHHHHH.  Do either your wife or Mom wear perfume? My absolute favorite is L'eau de Issey by Issey Miyake.  I ask for a bottle every year!  I am also hoping for a new heart rate monitor.  One without the chest strap.  Good Luck!

Aww Bobs, you're such a generous hubby. Ok, my other ideas fizzled so I want to give it another whirl.

*Jewelry (the old standby, right? Ok, I'll keep thinking)
*Make something as your surprise gift. How about something from their heritage, could be food related cause those are easy. Or, you could do a family-tree type collage.
*For mom - go to the pottery studio, pick out a platter and put the names of all the kids in your family and put a cute drawing on it, this time of year people make cookie plates(like for Santa, and the reindeers have the kids or grandkids names). She could use it for special occassions.
*Learn a song on an instrument and sing it. Yeah yeah, I know there's only a month but it could happen if you pick one song.
*Write a poem and have it framed on beautiful ornamental paper.

That's all I've got for now. Good luck.

There have been some fabulous ideas already (spa, bed n breakfast, Rockettes, or show) ...  I am in my 40's and don't need more "stuff" and I can buy the clothes I want etc. I don't need jewelry. I can't smell so I don't wear perfume. Don't DARE buy a kitchen gadget or appliance!!

SO...I would like my husband to plan special dates! How about dance lessons--together or learn to dance in secret ad then surprise her!? A drive in the country for a hike and picnic (you plan it all). I had a boyfriend once MAKE me a wooden spoon out of an apple branch that he picked up off the ground from an orchard from our first date! (that was one of my best gifts EVER!)

Same with my kids (gift for your mom).... Something you can make... and turn into a special occasion.... sounds like you are a fabulous husband/son when it comes to gift giving! Don't think you have to come up with something new every year! If you have given something in the past that was a big hit--give it again!! I love See's candy--there are one or two varieties that I particularly love... so a box of those would be yummy (and totally NOT what I should eat!)

I just thought of the perfect gift for either of them!! A digital album of photos of the two of you (or family photos for mom) with your words of "why I love you" or stuff like that. I sell them through Creative Memories, but I know Ritz Camera, Costco (maybe) and places like that do it to. You download your photos, add your captions and stories, then download. Your hardbound book arrives in about 3 weeks. My girlfriend received this from her kids for her 50th and she just bawled! She LOVES it more than anything else!!! good luck.

I would love someone to buy me a maid for a month - a once weekly house keeping / cleaning service. Just a couple of hours on a weekday to do all the ikky boring stuff I never get around to, like actually pulling the couch out to get underneath with the vacuume and maybe dust the cealing fans. Depending on the company I think you can get general cleaners anywhare from 15 - 30 bucks an hour, usualy a two hour minimum.

betzc - pefume for my mom might be something new.

trendstudent - lots of original ideas.  however, im not near as creative as your ideas are!  :)

carolann - the picnic is a good idea, have done in the past.  I already got my mom the digital frame with pics of all her kids, grandkids, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, etc. etc.  I think she is going to really like it!

turtles - my wife already has maid service every other week.  she loves it!

Thanks to all and may you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

You are going to have a hard time topping the great gifts you've already given.

Are they musical? Guitar; piano etc.  New sheet music.

Are they crafty? Hand tools like a drill, sander...

Do they collect things? Cookie jars, teapots....

Are they practical, extravagant?

WII fit! :) Of course you did ask what WE want. IDK if your mom or wife has or would want such a thing.

It sounds like you've given such awesome gifts in the past, I don't know how you're going to top yourself!

You just can't go wrong with a trip to Hawaii. Laughing

I want a pair of dark brown UGG boots, a watch and a diamond cross.  I'm pretty sure I won't get any of these things.  I tell my husband for months before Christmas what I want and he forgets everything and wants me to make Wish Lists on the computer and send it to him by email.  I just think that is so cold, I figure out stuff to buy him every year that he absolutely adores without asking him.  It hurts, how come I know him better than he knows me?

Don't get a domestic item (i.e. crockpot) unless you KNOW they want one.  Sometimes I get kitchen stuff but my husband gets awesome books, DVDs, or something WAY more interesting!~  Give them a crockpot if you don't mind getting undies or a snow shovel.

What do I want for Christmas?  Jewelry and a fur jacket would be just wonderful.

For your wife ... something naughty that reminds her just how much she means to you.

For your mother... how bout a family photo from when you were younger, blown up in a nice frame?  Or if you have children, then a family photo of you, the wife and kids now.

. .. Books to complete our set of 3.5 edition Dungeons and Dragons?

New costuming supplies, including a bigger budget for body paint and other speciality costume paints.

A gift certificate online for a new wig, perferabbly long and purple or green.

Okami for the Wii

Alton Brown books

and Whirrled Peas also :)
