Auctioning off your virginity?

What do you think about this?

You could do much better with $5k on just about any college campus.

That's her decision.

But someone mentioned prostitution which made me wonder, can she legally do this? And if so, why is it ok for her to auction off her virginity but not for the streetwalker on the corner to peddle her goods?

For the record I believe prostitution should be legalized and regulated, but as long as it's not, I'm seeing a double standard here.

The men offering her $1,000,000+ are less likely to actually have that kind of money than she is of still having her virginity.  Besides, isn't soliciting prostitution through the Internet illegal?

This is just sad. I also do not understand how she isn't being arrested for this.  This, to me, sounds like prosititution and it's illegal, so why is she still able to do this?  I think it's rediculous.

I dunno... an AMAZINGLY beautiful virgin might be worth a lot as a trophy for a lot of guys (and in that way, you could understand why someone would want to "have" that).

Most guys dont just think of sex as sex (you can find that without paying :P ). I dont think there is really a huge difference in mens and womens desires for sex (discounting societies expectations / teachings).

If you go to the site you'll find out there's a 59 year old man wanting to win the auction. I doubt if he's really influenced by her hotness factor. She's not outright ugly or overweight.

Sheesh.  To think, back then, I couldn't give mine away.

Talk about putting a spin on "saving for your future" hee hee. I don't see the difference in what she is doing and what parents of different cultures do when they arrange marriages and offer dowries. 

In the American judicial system I'd say it's prostitution. High rollin' style.

Good point about the dowries. That is basically paying someone to take your daughter off your hands.

I've never understood that custom. It's like telling your daughter your not good enough to pick your mate and then when they pick him they have to pay him to take her. Talk about a self esteem complex.

Women in those societies are nothing more than property in most instances. Some property is actually more valuable to them than women in general.
